man, it takes FOREVER to do anything in this game.

if you wanna start a quick new game against the computer, you're clicking at least three or four times to get into different menus. if you wanna start a new game against the computer but your allotted six saved games are filled, you've got to click and then confirm that click to delete each one - Delete Game 1, Are you sure? delete; delete Game 2, Are you sure? delete. woof.

and it goes on like this - the whole experience is sloooow. the pieces literally move slowly; they're animated really slowly, and there doesn't seem to be any option to speed it (or anything) up. if you want to zoom in on the board, the camera sloooowly zooms in ... but then *quickly* zooms back out on key release because the game likes the default camera height it's set to, thank you very much.

Chess Ultra is just not smooth, quick or intuitive to use, but it's fine Chess and it looks okay, so if 10 gigabytes of HD space for Chess - which you can get online quicker for no HD space AND no money - is alright for you, here it is. but for myself I just think it's a thoroughly "meh" product.

The graphics and atmospheres are beautiful, and I find the various AI levels perfectly challenging,

Does the job well. Plays chess easily on the Steam deck so I can enjoy it on a flight.
