How do I move the pieces?

I've just purchased the game and it may sound like a dumb question, but how do I move the pieces? I've started with the tutorial and i've tried just about every possible combination of mouse buttons and I cannot move a piece! I mouse over a piece and all of the legal moves are highlighted, I click the square I want it to go and...nothing, I hold the mouse button down, tried both left and right and click where I want it to go and... nothing! I've tried dragging the piece ....nothing! Is it broken? Am I doing something wrong? I don't know what else to do. Surely it can't be this difficult?

Ok well I've just closed Steam and rebooted my PC and it all seems to be working properly now and I can't delete this thread so no worries, it's all sorted now.
