Heck one of my friends doesn't play chess but if there was a Dinosaur theme she'd buy this game in a heartbeat.

It is not a bad idea, I would not mind, a lot of historical contexts can be explored to make nice chess sets (please no more Easter Island, haha). Napoleonic Wars, Egypt, India, Ancient greece/Trojan war, China, and so much more... Oh and right, why not Dinosaurs??

Exactly.
Nothing wrong with Dinosaurs at all! I'd buy it. But I get how some themes/armies could get enthusiasts excited.
Though with dlc there's the matter of is it worth the Dev's time and would it sell well?

For sure there could be several designs to create nice chess figures, but to be honest I prefer the classic design, because sometimes I am not longer able to know which figure which one is. I am more interested in different rooms with nice soundtracks. I am wondering how people can play with different looking figures.

I agree with new rooms and music. Some of the settings are totally worth it for the relaxing vibe you get.
Much like you I prefer the traditional piece looks but sometimes different themes provide a fresh look with a change.
