Castling: How to move the pieces?
Hello,

I understand the Chess definition of castling.

How do you actually move the pieces in the game to achieve a castle move?

Thanks

You move the king two squares away.
Thanks a bunch!
To castle the line between King and Rook must be free from pieces, King and Rook shouldn't be under check, and the line of castling doesn't need to be under check
Not true. When castling, the rook may pass through squares that are attacked and it is also allowed if the rook is already under attack prior to castling. Additionally, the king and rook must not have previously moved at any point in the game. Note also, the king is the only piece that can be checked.

Right click though.
like ziggy said, the rook can be attacked. its just the king that cannot be under check or go thru check. if you are able to castle, then as said, you must first move the king 2 squares either right or left depending what side you want to castle.
Often a lot of confusion regarding castling. It's actually very simple if you remember a few basic rules.

King and rook must both be on their starting squares, and neither have moved during the
game.

There must be no pieces between the king and rook.

You cannot castle if you are in check.

You cannot castle if it means you will move your king through check.

Every chess program I have ever used has followed the convention of moving the king two spaces right or left and the computer will make the corresponding rook move. This makes sense since if playing on a real board with touch-move conditions, initially touching the rook would commit you to making a rook move.
