Multiplayer is lacking functionality
We need a lobby to more easily connect with others; a list of games in session, games awaiting an opponent and players currently online. We need to be able to communicate with each other and offer challenges and rematches, or at least have the ability to send a "Good game!" If we had all of that, then the cherry on top would be a spectator mode as well.

Multiplayer should be the meat and potatoes of this game. Solo play against an AI is a side dish, if that, for any self respecting chess player. Personally, i have zero interest in playing against some random engine. So please improve the multiplayer aspect. It is severely lacking in functionality for where it should be.

Honestly, I was hoping this game would be my new go-to app for playing online chess. Imagine having all the functionality of Chess.com with the added bonus of high fidelity 3D environments, models and sounds. Why wouldn't you aim to achieve that?

Hell, maybe even a partnership with them is possible? If you could use their back-end services and cheat detection tech, we'd have a hell of a product on our hands.

Not having included communication between players is a baffling decision. I know it would be non-trivial to add it, but it's a must have.

Exactly. Maybe they were thinking they didn't want a potentially toxic chat to intrude on other players' experience with the game. But a chat feature is just too important to leave out. Even just having preset responses would be better than nothing.

If I recall correctly, the chat idea came up once before on launch day. The devs said they didn't include chat because they believe chess to be a traditionally silent game.

Hope that helps understand their reasoning at least a little.

I figured it was something like that, but that's a poor excuse for any online multiplayer game in 2017. I'm happy with there not being voice chat, that's totally understandable. But text chat is silent. And if reading bothers people too much, they could make an option to disable text chat.

Hi Gray. I think it's more important they fix the camera so that it can stay it whatever position you want it in. More often than not, I have people telling me to F myself in chat, I don't think I miss that. lol.

That's a very good point and another issue I have with this game. lol

We're working on this for a future update :)

Nice. What about a multiplayer lobby and chat features? Any future plans?
