Caesar 4

Caesar 4

Caesar IV will not run
I cannot get Caesar IV to run on 64-bit Windows 10, though it was working previously. When attempting to run from Steam, I get the Caesar IV launcher, but when I click "Launch," nothing happens.

After running "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Caesar 4\C4\RegisterDLL.bat" as Administrator, I get the following error message when attempting to run "C4Exec.exe" as Administrator:

"CaesarIV.exe - Application Error: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application."

Attempting to run "CaesarIV.exe" with the Windows Program Compatibility Troubleshooter does not work either.

I also tried installing "https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35" but it is already installed. Windows .NET Framework 3.5 is also already installed. Microsoft, HP, and AMD software are all up-to-date. Steam local file integrity for Caesar IV has also been validated.

Any help?

Can you post a link? Nothing else has worked.

I tried all of those steps, including painstakingly rebooting the PC between each step, and it still doesn't work. No change.

Looks like link the directX on MS site is no longer valid. You can get it here at oldversion.com/windows/directx-9-0c-jun-2010
See if that works for you.

It no longer works for me no matter what I do if I start it up thru Steam.

What does work though is to navigate to Steam/Steamapps/common/Caesar4/C4 and then right click caesariv.exe and select Properties, then under Compatibility set it run in Compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and apply.

Then create a shortcut to that file and drag it to the desktop. Then start the game from that shortcut and not thru Steam. That is the only way it will work for me on the newest version of Win 10.

I don't have the compatibility option for it just sharing where compatibility is for everyone else. I'm at my wits end
I ran into this problem when I installed it on my Win 10 machine tonight.

This worked for me:

- Find the game's folder on your computer. Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Caesar 4\C4

~ Find and run RegisterDLL.bat as an administrator.

~ Now try launching the game to confirm that it works.

Hope this helps. It did sort out my issue after I'd given up on all the compatibility ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
