[Windows] How to fix looping sound

I encountered it on level 2 with the narrator constantly repeating the intro, followed by game music restarting. The fix is relatively simple (and worked for me).

1. Close the game and the launcher
   
2. Goto http://www.indirectsound.com/ and download the latest indirectsound .zip (mine was version _012)
   
3. Open the zip with winrar or whatever you use.
   
4. Navigate to your Ceasar 3 folder (fastest is via the browse local files shortcut)
   
5. Navigate to the C3 folder
   
6. Extract the 'dsound.dll' file here

Unfortunately does not work for me (on Win 10). After adding dsound.dll I just get an error message pop up (before the launcher opens) telling me I need X3DAutio1_7.dll.
So I fetched a copy of that and put it in C3 folder, but then it just hits unknown error (0xc000007b).
Have tried as Admin and all previous Win version compatabilities.
My system is one of those for which actually sound is OK for a while, but then at some seemingly random point goes into the 3-second loop. A restart of the whole game will cure until the next time, but there *will be* a next time, often after only a minute or so.

thief : gold
thief 2: the metal age
thief : deadly shadows ( thief 3 )
pharaoh + cleopatra or gold or whatever else other name this one has , same bug is present on the GOG version of the game aswell....a wierd bug wich is gamebreaking : one mission game plays normally then the next one the game locks up for no reason , using the that .dll fixes the issue .
