FAQ Post
Will the GEV maps be released, and if so, will they be a free update or paid DLC?
We will definitely be bringing the GEV maps and scenarios you know and love so well to the digital version. These will be completely free to anyone who has purchased a copy of Ogre on Steam, Humble, Gamersgate or GreenManGaming.

The update which brings the GEV maps and scenarios will be coming in the next few weeks.

Will the game be released on Mac, Linux, console, tablet etc.?
The game is definitely coming to Mac very soon! This is the only other confirmed platform so far after Windows, but we’d like to bring it to as many players on as many platforms as possible.

How does attacking the Ogre work?
The Ogre has several different components which can all be attacked. The weaponry (Main Batteries, Secondary Batteries, Anti-Personnel Guns and Missiles) can be attacked by multiple units and the odds of a successful attack will increase, the more units you add. Ogre treads are slightly different - these can still be attacked by multiple units within a turn, but each unit fires separately at odds of 1:1, meaning you must roll a 5 or 6 for a successful attack per unit. An Ogre is disabled when it’s tracks are reduced to 0.

How do I delete and re-install the game?
It’s possible that game files can become corrupted or deleted. If we recommend for you to delete and re-install the game, what to do is right-click on the game in Steam, select ‘Uninstall’, and then re-install the game. After doing so, right-click the game again and go to Properties, then Local Files, and hit ‘Verify the Integrity of the Game Files’.

Will we be able to edit and configure our own hotkeys?
This is planned and will be in a future update, coming soon! :)

Why do stacked units look like counters?
This was a design decision between ourselves and Steve Jackson Games. After the game was released, this way of displaying units wasn’t hugely popular, so we are working on a way to make stacked units clearer, and to move stacks of units at once rather than repeated singular moves.

This list will be added to and amended as changes are made.

Thanks very much for all the feedback so far!

It's coming soon! Being tested at the moment and looking good so far :)
GEV was my favorite iteration of this series, so looking forward to the release of that content.

Thanks!
If the stacked units are all the same type, it would be great to put that unit on top of the stacked hexagons.
I played a good bit of Ogre/GEV back in the day, and even have a very underused boxed set from the first (?) SJG KS. I just started with this version. Thanks for a game that meets my expectations for the single-player experience!

I was expecting to find 2-4 player cooperative scenarios (e.g., two player versus AI Ogre). Is that an option now, but I am just not finding it? Or is that not going to happen, maybe never? Cheers!

Hi Bruce!

Thank you so much for playing our game! If you get the chance please leave us a review for Ogre. We are a small studio and it helps a lot with getting our game in front of new audiences, we really appreciate it!

HI Bruce,
The game is currently a 1-2 player game. There likely won't be plans to try to make it a 3-4 player game. One option that you can use to simulate the 3-4 player experience is to use the Steam Remote Play with Friends option. This gives you the ability to share a "remote hotseat" so more than two players can interact with the board. It's not the same as having 3-4 armies, but you could pretty easily do something like a Mark III defending where two players work together (one running the mark III and the other running the conventional forces) while the third player runs the attacking Mark V.

Note - We just updated the game:

Updates

  • Added langauges; French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese & Japanese
  • Added Language Options (separate to computer OS) in Settings
  • Spillover fire misses added to combat log
  • Bridges have correct defence of 8
  • Added concede popups for Ogres/CPs
  • Other minor fixes with popup layouts.

Note: We've disabled Mac creating a custom MP game - there's an issue currently with the combination of Unity/Steamworks versions and we need to investigate further. Can still join games/play ranked fine! We're looking into this now.

I'd definitely like to second the question about more than 2 players. I read the rulebook and it looks like the original game definitely allows for it. why not here? the game makes it look like you can change the number, but you can't. you also can't change the game rules either beyond the two presets

I am happy for the game to be 1-2 player only. But I *really* would get more out of co-op versus Ogre rather than 1 versus 1 as the only two-player option.
I need help with two achievements: Steel Rain and Demolition Ogre.
So far I have no idea which unit has access to spillover fire.
And I killed more than a dozen of Ogres in campaign/skirmish in overrun, yet no achievement popped up.
Help please.
