The Official Ogre Multiplayer Meeting Post
The release of Ogre is coming, and as you might have heard the game comes with asynchronous multiplayer*. We’re really excited to connect Ogre fans all over the world, and with this thread we’re kicking off… The Official Ogre Multiplayer Meeting Post!

This is the place to introduce yourself to the wider Ogre community** and let people know what kind of Ogre matches you’re looking to play. If you’re a member of the forum on the Steve Jackson Games forum[forums.sjgames.com], feel free to link to that profile here, too!

Plus! If you check the box next to the words “Subscribe to thread” when you post, you’ll be automatically updated whenever new players register on this thread, ensuring a steady stream of new opponents!

See you on the battlefield!

*“Asynchronous multiplayer” means you can have many different games of Ogre active at the same time, and we’ll keep track of them for you. You can be playing a match with a friend, perform all your actions, exit the match (or even the entire game itself!) and we’ll notify you when your opponent has responded, allowing you to continue your game at a later time.

**We’d be delighted for players to discuss aspects of the game here on Steam, but please try to keep those discussions in a different thread. This thread is specifically for players looking to find new opponents and connect with the rest of the community.

Guess it is time to introduce myself...

Greetings all! My name is Chris Lozano, I am the regional director of the central US of the SJGames MIB program.

As I said in a previous post I got into Ogre late as I have been demoing/promoting munchkin for a good 10 years until I decided to move to other products to " expand my options " around 5 years ago or so. Ogre seemed to be the only game that stuck since I love good strategy games and find myself if even losing still learning something for the next game.

I am looking forward to playing with many/any of you all when I have the time as I know this game is a awesome!

Wow, I'm number two, but I try harder...rofl. My name is Keith and I been fairly active in the Ogreverse for the past couiple of year though Ogre and I made friends way back in the 70's. Life interrupts but finally I have the time to get back in and enjoy my boardgamming hobby and ODE was what got my attention. I've been running multiplayer events in the Metro Detroit area for different con's and consider the ODE more of a resource for a good RPG with hex /chit/ miniatures mechanics as my pallet.

Quite been looking forward to the successful fulfillment of this KS promise. See you on the battlefield.

I will follow suit...

David Rock here. I'm also a MIB in Illinois. I got into the program specifically because of Ogre, since they needed veteran players. My expertise is stuff made _before_ 1985, which includes Ogre. I've been playing since 1978, 1979, the details are fuzzy now :-)

I'm open to playing with as many people as possible; veteran and novice alike. Especially new players that are interested in learning how to play, my virtual door is always open.

Hi,

Erik Krieger here. I bought Ogre when it first came out, and again when they had the first colored map. Played the game frequently in the late 70's & early 80"s, along with many other strategy games. Ogre was always my favorite for its simple rules & fast play. Got out of gaming altogether for many years & just rediscovered Ogre a few months ago. Having great fun with the board versions & really looking forward to some online games as well.
Bounder Sep 28, 2017 @ 8:54pm
Name is Keith, I go by Bounder here and at BGG. Started with the second Metagaming edition. Ogre was the first nontraditional game I bought with my own money. I worked at Steve Jackson Games in the early 80's and was an in-house playtester for Shockwave. I attended the Ogre Designer's Edition launch party

I'm looking to play a variety of scenarios. I am happy to help new players learning how to play.

Heya. My name's Josh Brumley, known as bigjake2.0 over on the SJG forums and SweeperAZ most other places. OGRE was the first wargame I ever played back in the early 80s and to this day, it holds a special place in my heart.
I'm also looking forward to breaking in my copy of OGRE Digital when I get it and to blow stuff up.
See you on the battlefield.

Roy Kubicek. I've been playing OGRE since my sister bought me the box set GEV in 1984 when I was 10. That same box got signed by SJ at WorldCon '12. Most of my spawnlings are also becoming big fans.
Biggest claim to fame other than having a ton of OGRE related material is I'm one of the $4.5K sponsors from the ODE edition KS, specifically the Nihon: North American Divisions. On the forums I go by 'Thirdpower'.

Greetings!
I too am an old fart. I swear I remember one of the first SJ games I bought was 'Turkey Shoot' or some such. And of course 'Car Wars' back when it was in a plastic bag. I have several of the old Metagame releases but I would have to dig through a pile of boxes to find them.
Ogre/GEV have always been a favorite of mine.
Did SJ games get the rights to all the old MG stuff? Now that you have a viable platform could we see 'Rivets' or 'Chitin'? =]

Just want to introduce myself. I'm an SJ games fan, Ogre and GURPS. I co-wrote, with my father, the Wounded Company: Ogre Rescue scenario for the desingers edition contest. Excited about this digital version!

Hello

I been playing electronic games since the mid-70s when pong came out. Got a console in 1975 which had a few games (plus pong) built in. And played Invaders in coffee shops in Japan in the late-70s. I got my fist computer in the early 80s when I was 33 (soon to be 69 now) and really liked turn-based strategy and RTS games (Cytron Masters was my first RTS). I played a lot of on my Amiga in the mid-late 80s and PC in the mid 90s, then Apple again, then PC again (now both).

I never played Ogre but was aware of it in the mid-late 80s when it came out for computers. I am learning it now and after I get up to speed would like to play some async online matches.

Greg here. Loved this game. I think I started playing it in 79. Also played G.E.V. and Battlesuits. I enjoyed the port of Ogre to the Commodore 64 but once I got rid of the 64 (kicking myself), didn't really play much since. Only about 5 or 6 years ago did I introduce my son to the game (purchased the tabletop version again) and he just told me about this. Super excited to play this and now I can get all my friends involved!

Rick form Las Vegas. Looking for opponents. I have played OGRE, GEV and such since it came out in 1977. Still use OGRE minis for my 6mm table battles also.

Hi, I'm Cole. I'm an inactive MIB (and trying to get back into it), I played Ogre when I was boy in the 80s and started again with DE. I was at the Launch Party. I'm sir_pudding on the SJGames forums (http://forums.sjgames.com/member.php?u=473). I've written a couple of articles in Pyramid, am working on some more, and hope to write some stuff for Ogrezine soon.

I'd really like to play some ranked battles and would love to make arrangements to all be on the servers at some convenient time (say 1700-1800 PDT or PST after Sunday).
