I'm running into the same issue on the deck, can you elaborate on how to install the dependencies ?
Also due to this the games shouldn't be rated Deck Veriefied atm
You have to install protontricks. I'm not sure how you do that on steam OS, but in linux mint it is a flatpak. It should be possible to enable flatpaks on steam os.
Here's the package I used on flathub, it should be possible to get it on there.
https://www.flathub.org/apps/details/com.github.Matoking.protontricks
Once it is installed, run it, and select redout as the steamapp, then click ok. I ran into a couple of bugs here, but I just clicked ok a bunch of times and it loaded.
Once the main menu is open, select :"select the default wineprefix" and click ok.
then select :" install a windows dll or component"
You should then be presented with a ton of various packages to install to whatever version of proton you are using with redout. Scroll down and choose "Vcrun2019" which is a lot of visual c++ libraries.
Run it, and eventually after all the error messages, you should be presented with a windows installer for the libraries, install these, and you're almost there.
Now all you need to do is tell redout that you want it to launch in directx 11 instead of 12, because I suspect the new version of unreal uses dx12. Linux doesn't support that yet as far as I'm aware.
That requires going into the launch options on steam, and writing -dx11 there. And the game should run...

Here's a list of various launch options and how to set them.
Good luck! Hope it helps!
I did that and the game runs now, but controls don't work. Any further suggestions?
It's pretty simple to do, but moving to this "beta" channel will cause the game to redownload essentially. So be aware of that if you're on a metered connection, it's somewhere between 4 and 5 GB.

Definitely would strongly advise anyone who has been having problems with the current update, whether it be with the look or stability of it, to go through with this. Though, just in case, backup your career mode save data before you do. You never know if something could go wrong.
That said, it's a good carry-over till things get fixed.
thank you devs for the quick fix, i am looking forward to Redout 2
Did it fix the graphics too? I used the beta branch to access the 1.6.4 build of the game where things aren't so bright that they make some of my racecraft unbearable to look at. Also, to have shadows in the levels display correctly and not fade out (or fade in) directly under my racecraft.
