Just Cause 4 won't start - no errors given from Steam, but did get errors when running the exe

Hi everyone,

When I click on the "Start" button in Steam a small window pops and disappears. Then the start button switches from "play" back to "Start" again. I've verified the local files, and restart the PC and Steam. Nothing seems to fix the issue.
The game worked fine 5 months ago when I played last, but now that I try to start it up and play again it won't start. I've submitted an email to Square Enix about it, but now I wonder if I'll ever hear back. Is JC4 dead now?

When I go to the source folder on my HDD and run JustCause4.exe I get these two error codes. Maybe this has something to do with it. Maybe I'll try to uninstall and reinstall, which I really hate to do. :(

1st error: "The code execution cannot proceed because msvcp140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

2nd error: " The code execution cannot proceed because vcruntime140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix the problem."

Things that make you go, hmmm.........

Nope!!!!!! Uninstalling and reinstalling did nothing to fix the problem. I uninstalled and rebooted my PC and then reinstalled from Steam. Still the same thing happens. This is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!....

Regardless of if it helps, does verifying the game files download anything?

Okay. Good news!!! I fixed the problem. I found a link about the error and it suggested to reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x86) because it was dealing with the msvcp140 error message.

So I went into apps and liked the app and instead of uninstalling I clicked modify, then I clicked "Repair".

After that I did the same thing with Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable (x86) also. The web link i found also suggested to open command prompt as admin and run "sfc/scannow" so it would appempt to repair any system issues. It did find a few errors and repaired them.

After that I rebooted and now the game works fine.... so far. :) Of course I have to play in Offline mode since it won't connect to a server for some reason.
