You do these three things all over the map and fallow the story. That's the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Clo9E2oMTJU&feature=youtu.be

i understand the gripe of most players familiar with the series..they enjoy the satisfaction of seeing bases and towns rid of enemy patrols by combing through areas looking for every last unique object highighted in red that needs to be blown up. well, that still happens too..areas of the map, inlcuding bases will start to be occupied by revolutionary forces the more you expand your influence. the game is really very similar to JC3, it just mixes up the formula a bit. you will 100% areas now through various mini missions or challenges.
there are also hot zones around border areas in the map that feature AI controlled skirmishes between Black Hand and revolutionary forces. sometimes you'll be asked to help out in the fight for a little chaos EXP. i like to mess around with these battles regardless..they are just really fun to watch and experience.
as someone who loved JC2 and 3 to a lesser extent, i am enjoying 4 quite a lot. it feels a lot less tedious and grindy than the last game, but really, these games are only as fun as your imagination and willingness to play.
The only thing left is that the challenges are a bit lame...
Well whatever ^^
I guess I’ll look forward to seeing what this game becomes, and buy it when all the dlc is released :)
I'm only 10 hours in but it seems nothing like JC3. Most bases only have a handful of stuff to blow up, I haven't seen anything like those huge JC3 bases.
There are some pretty large things to blow up, but as someone who likes this game, and loved JC3, I feel like the level of destruction was much higher in JC3. It's tricky to talk about that, because people jump to the conclusion that you "hate" the game when you say stuff like that.
I like this game very much, but loved JC3, and one of the main drivers was more stuff to blow up in JC3. So the answer to your question is kind of "no" it doesn't. It's still fun and there still is a lot of stuff to blow up, just not as much.
If JC3 was a 9/10 this is an 8/10.
I personally think the change goes both ways for me. I would have loved the liberation style of the previous JC games, but at the same time I dig the progression here. It would have been nice though if they combined both.
One thing I like is the constant battles going on in some areas as the rebels defend their areas. From what I gather, the enemy will never overtake an area again once it is claimed, so these battles are more of a set piece than an obstacle. Completely optional to go down and join the fighting, but when you do, it is quite fun.
Thanks for the answers, this is enough for me to judge where I'd put this game personally :)
The amount of times I’ve gone off-book in this game and had to drag myself back to the small area with the threat of the game cancelling the mission has been quite a few. Inexplicable bollocks ...
In an OPEN WORLD GAME.
So while the mechanics might have changed a little, ultimately, the game is still about blowing things up.
