Can you do anything with the dog?

There's a dog in the bridge with all the houses that I first encountered in the second mission. Can you do anything with it or does it just beg at you?

Huh. I never saw the dog!

In another town or area, somewhere (and likely numerous places honestly i can't remember where there's like a billion little towns) there is a vendor with bags of dog food, and I think I remember hearing a dog barking, but never found a dog.

But yeah I don't think you can DO anything with it, like most games you can't interact with animals unless they've paid specific attention to that aspect.

Well, this dog was used to enable an easter egg in the first game (you guide the dog to it's house to unlock Doge mode, based on the meme from a few years ago). Though no such thing appears to be gainable here.

And seeing it seems to still be the only dog in the game, I don't know why they wouldn't have something to do with it.
