The driver helped a bit with performance. I'm getting around 5 fps more now on average. But the graphics are still bad.

Yeah, I'm thinking (hoping) that's the case. The game I saw a week ago looked nothing like this release. Also it's apparently affecting console players too, so the graphic stuff isn't PC exclusive.

Before installing the driver update, my game ran fine. After the update, its framerate dropped drastically. Anyone else have that problem?

Typically when it comes to GPU updates for brand new PC games, DON'T INSTALL THE DRIVER UPDATE BEFORE PLAYING THE GAME. There's too many instances where driver updates resulted in worse peformance making FPS drops more severe or creating more instability. You won't know how stable a game will be on your system unless you run it. Play the game first before immediately installing drivers.

Seriously, how are these graphics so damn bad when every gameplay video looks so damn good?

Make sure you have performed a clean install of the new driver.

Also which version were you using before? 416.94(not 417.01) is the previous relatively stable version in case 417.22 breaks just about every other game you try to run.
