Might & Magic Showdown

Might & Magic Showdown

A few Questions
Hey there,

So, as it stands this game more than piques my interest, but I cannot help but be skeptical due to some major concerns. If we roll back to Might and Magic X (And one or two others), I think we can somewhat agree, It didnt perform as most would have hoped. It was riddled with bugs at release, and it felt like you cut your losses and swept it aside.

If this game finishes with a similar reception, and quality. Will you go and work on the next game or continue to develop?

Will you even make the same mistake as before and release it with bugs? Or will you run it through with a fine tooth comb?

In a previous discussion I remember a talk about the 'State of The Realm' streams, and someone commented on how it was hard to book time on the Official channel due to releases of new games. How much do you expect to be overshadowed by these games? Until recently I did not even realise this was a project you were working on, and when I found out I was quite excited to see how you went about implementing these PvP's.

My main issue is I do not want to invest time into a game, that may ultimatley be covered with a rug, like an ugly blemish.

P.S.
I am loving your thorough, down to Earth interactions with the community and, I hope that continues.

Speaking from a player / M&M fan perspective I can say Showdown does not share the problems of Might & Magic X. But it has its own.

Technically the game doesn't contain many bugs, though they do still happen at this point (that point being "early access"). They are not game-breaking though, so nowhere near the release state of Might & Magic X or Heroes VII.

However Showdown has different problems, starting with the lack of content. Basically right now it's 21 characters to unlock (their graphics being recycled from older games), one campaign and the duel mode (PvP and PvE). So after the campaign (which lasts for 2-3 hours) this game doesn't give any specific goals and you are left with playing a lot of duels. I suppose you can make some of your own, like get all the achievements or collect all the miniatures or be a the top of the leaderboard. But it's up to you.

So, technically speaking the game is on a good path, but content-wise it needs definitely more to attract more players.

Right now you can check the Steam numbers yourself - only 160 reviews, 65% of which are positive. Steamspy says the game is owned by about 4000 players. So the game is not popular at all and this in turn means that finding a human opponent for PvP duels is really hard right now.

Hi Chimcharit, the early access period is designed to allow us to keep on improving the game with the community feedback and our goal is to create the best game possible. As such in this phase you will see updates we have provided, a lot of this based on feedback.

We are listening and acting on a lot of the feedback provided.

Our State of The Realm streams are important as they allow us to show you new features as well as new people seeing the game.

Thank you both for your responses. It sounds like it really is 'Early Access' I'll probably leave it a bit longer before I commit to buying it, but it sounds like this game has a lot more potential than some previous titles. Thanks!

this game looks like it could be a ton of fun
I'm hanging back and waiting to see how the single player part of the game rolls out

does anyone know if there is a roadmap of what the devs have planned for the future of this game?

I'm very interested if the single player has a big future

Hey Dogtown1,

We don't have a fully laid out roadmap as such, but if you check our most recent news post, we've outlined a couple of things that we're working on right now.

One of them is indeed a single player campaign. Hopefully we'll have some more details about this to give you soon, but for now I want to assure you that if PvE content is something you guys want, we can definitely provide more. The reason we're in Early Access right now is so that we can develop the game along with you guys; if there's something you want to see, let us know and we'll see what we can do!

Best regards,

Jimothy.

awesome, rock on
I got my hopes up, hope to see some single player skirmish action
and LOTS of replay value so the game will continue to gain more players and have a life after the campaign

I keep checking the "recent news post" and it has not changed much

paint skins, but nothing on how or where the game is headed

sorry, I suck at waiting

Well, I would think the devs would know that they have way too little content. That isnt something customers should make you aware of, unless you are trying to get away with selling this product with a lot less content. I dont think thats the case, but sure does look like that. I mean, so few characters? Thats not fun! So, I am not purchasing, until there is a whole lot more to do in this game.

I have high hopes for the game, it looks like a blast

I have been watching another game that is VERY similar to this one called "Wartile" sadly its in the very early stages as well

Hey guys,

Here's the most recent post about it: http://steamcommunity.com/games/517070/announcements/detail/254856417449490225

We'll get some more information to you as soon as we can, but for now I can assure you that single player content is a big focus of our next update.

If there's any more questions I can answer, don't hesitate to ask :)

Regards,

Jimothy.

Yes, thanks for the answers, but....did you guys start making more units, etc. after the community asked for it? Or did you guys do it since the start. Because it looks like you guys waited for the community to complain about the lack of content, before you made more. Or am I wrong?
