Game is completely unplayable because of audio lag.
The audio in the game is just awful. It lags so much, the game can't even be played. The dialogue is incomprehensible because of the audio lag.

I bought this on G2A and can't even get a refund. What a waste of money. It seems to be a common problem too, why hasn't it been fixed, devs?

It's not the game.

I have had no problems outputting audio to multiple and far different devices...

You may want to try the following.

- If you have any audio "enhancements" turned on, disable them.
- The above includes Dolby, ambient effects, etc.
- Realtek drivers install and enable ambient effects by default, disable them.
- Check to see if Windows thinks you have a multi-channel 5.1 setup, if so set to Stereo and try again after a reboot.
- Download the latest audio drivers available. Sometimes the motherboard manufacturers do not issue updated drivers. You can go to other sites or manufacturers to get far more recent files. Intel for one is a great source of audio drivers for NON-Intel motherboards.
- Know what audio chipset you are using!
- If you have HDMI, switch to your monitor & video card audio, which has a lower latency.

Finally

Go to

Steam / Help / System Information

Cut and paste everything that appears into a new post here.

Game is perfect, update audio driver

He's not wrong. I played the game on Xbox and the audio lags sooooooo much. Here's a compilation I made of audio lag, as well as some framerate and loading issues.

This is not an Xbox forum, so we will not speak to that.

However if you are getting audio lag issues, you are best off looking at your audio drivers and paying particular attention to audio "Enhancements".

"Enhancements" are usually to blame...

Why?

"Enhancements" are post processing tasks that are forced upon the CPU to do.

Equalization, Dolby, vibrancy, spacial positioning, etc. are all given over to a separate process that adds latency and may not sync with the game or program causing horrid lag and at times pops and clipping/static type artifacts.

This is a common issue with Digital Audio Workstation software btw.

Realtek drivers for one enable audio enhancements by default, which must be turned off. Making matters worst, the controls for this are buried pretty deeply in the audio tabs, and most people are unaware that they even exist.

I've run the game on various specifically laggy hardware and it does very well.

If you are having issues start with your system.

Pay particular attention to the suggestion in my post about going to other manufacturers to find more recent drivers for your hardware. Motherboard manufacturers are especially lax at updating drivers beyond the first year.

I'm just saying it's no coincidence that it's happening on this user's PC version as well as Xbox. It's clearly an issue with an unoptimized game.

Layers of Fear ran horribly too (I'm talking 20fps bad), but at least that didn't have audio issues.

That is not a valid assumption as Xbox builds are complete different animals.

There are threads here where people are posting it runs well on low end machines. The game runs fairly well on minimum spec systems which points to good compiler optimization. That is not an issue.

If the issue were what you are speculating everyone would have exactly the same problem.

I certainly would have seen it with known laggy audio interfaces too.

No the OP needs to look to his machine.

Blaming it on the game is not going to help him, but if he attempts what I suggested the issue may be resolved.

Game is not perfect. I had a game breaking bug that was supposedly fixed, but requires you to restart the game. eeeefff that nonsense.

Actually it was the game, I emailed support and they told me that it was a common issue and that a fresh install would help and it did. Also, tabbing out during the game can cause audio problems.
