Upper crusty
I complete the slum dweller's big goal, but I don't get to be crusty.

What do you mean?

Did you get to the last level and didn't transform into an upper-cruster there? Or did you start an other run, chose the slum dweller, and didn't become an upper-cruster right away? Or are you missing upper-cruster stats from the slum dweller on the character selection screen?

In the first case, have you seen a confirmation message at the start of the last level? In either of the latter two cases, have you enabled the super special abilities mutator?

Ah, it's only in the last level. I figured it'd just happen upon completing the big quest. I haven't played this game in a few years, so I've forgotten a lot of this stuff
Well, yes and no. It happens upon completing the big quest, which is when you finish uptown 3, the penultimate level. Then you get to the last level where you get to enjoy it. But it isn't permanent by default. You have to enable it with the super special abilities mutator. THEN you can do a full run playing as an upper cruster. No mutator, no upper cruster only regular slum dweller.

Yeah took me awhile before I realized you could do a brand new run with the super special abilities mutator.

I'm fine with it not being a permanent thing, and I'm glad there's the mutator, but it is a little lame that the quest doesn't complete upon meeting the 750 gold quota. But hey, that's alright

You know it would be cool if the base game was like "Slums level 1 to 5, Indsutrial 6 to 10, Park 11 to 15, Downtown 16 to 20, Updown 21 to 25, Slums 26, Industrial 27, Park 28, Dpowntown 29 to 31, Random level 31, then Mayor village" with needing to complete 25 levels of your big quest. Then players would be able to goof off as their upgraded version. At the same time unlike Super Abilities mutuator, if this was the base game you'd have the chellenge of the Big Quest and still get to enjoy the perks of being Upper Crusty in a normal level. it also makes Bouncer much less frustrating.
So you would prefer modifying the game to using a mutator that is already implemented and lets you use your perks on normal levels. You would also increase the number of levels you have to endure as a fully frustrating bouncer to have 5 levels where you can play as a less frustrating bouncer without the SSA mutator.
