Have you beaten uptown with zombie?
Seems like it might be pretty hard with the cop spawners, super cops, robots, machine guns everywhere, and lock downs.

So far only beaten it with bartender with watergun + rage poison. Not sure yet if zombie can use water gun, but I'm guessing it can't.

4-2 is the highest I can get so far.

Zombie is too darn slow to out run supercops without taking extreme amounts of damage. And even if you destroy the super cop spawn button 1 will spawn who wrecks your day (Which is really lame). Then add in the machine gun holding mobsters.

I can't imagine uptown as zombie.

Zombie needs to have slippery target or something.

One thing I wish it had was immunity to poison. Its undead and only 80 hp with a move that drains 5 hp per use. If you aren't prepared with food, it can be bye-bye run.

You can get a quest to enter a gas cloud building and it be poison. Also on industrial I see zombies die left and right on the tracks. Ruining your work converting people.

And zombie has to give up the optional 5 nugget quests every run. Because it won't let you talk to the quest giver.

I have to turn on mutators to even get passed Downtown, the stupid Upper-crusters start spam-pushing the button and drop in 5 stupor cops at a time, hardly fair.

For the best zombie experience, use these mutators: Endless, Continue?, No guns, No melee weapons, No roaming cops (there's enough of those prats when they start spawning in), and, most importantly, Zombies ate my game balance.

Must be really tough playing as a class which nobody will sell items to. Might give it a go!

You can still buy from the machines. I barely buy from npcs themselves. Like I just beat the game as cop and barely ever bought from npcs.

Mainly all my money goes into cloning items.

It is, even if you don't buy items much. If you give zombie a go, remember to use the clone machines to clone as much food as posible

Do you have the food processor unlocked? You get so many guns you can't use to turn into fud.

My run I was cloning the friend caller, and other things. Sadly a lot of buildings now don't have an air unit to put the things into.

I might try a run where I clone bullet vests/hard hats/armor or melee spray/ressurection shampoo. Try to beef up my followers?

I've beaten the game as a Zombie. Once you get to Downtown, your normal Zombie Hoard tactics will no longer work because the NPCs are heavily armed. It gets even worse in Uptown. The Zombie's kit is not able handle these levels.

The trick to winning is to complete each level as fast as possible and rely on the items you have collected up to this point. Don't linger. Don't go around looting every garbage can. Don't bother making Zombies (teammates or just roaming). The NPCs will just kill them with guns as soon as they are seen and they will never get chance to make more Zombies.

Try not to fight at all if you can help it. Fair Game will make most NPCs run from you, even if they are armed with guns, as long as they are not already Hostile to you. Use indirect means to complete missions like using the Rage Poison to make everyone in a building kill each other.

The wiki has a bunch tips that can help.

It seems like it would be especially bad if you're on 5-3 and the disaster is Hidden Bombs, because anybody panicking and causing a lockdown will raise the barriers and slow you down.

I recall finishing as Zombie back when there was at most 5-1, and I used "No Disasters" + "No Guns" + "Zombies Ate My Game Balance" to heavily weight things in my favor. The supercops and mobsters got equipped with swords and axes, IIRC.

It's meh for built-in classes, but I find it quite acceptable on custom classes where I can set up a decent inventory and power set to begin with. A lot of my custom characters have it, both gang-hostility traits, and the scientist-hostility trait in order to fund a stronger setup in other ways. One misses out on the early bonus missions (because one is unlikely to get a translator right off) which is a bit annoying if you're not at the "chicken nugget" cap of 50, but one can still use loadout stations (good if the build starts with a strong consumeable like hologram bigfoot), mystery item dispensers, and cloning stations (once you find one of something you like).

My chloroform + tranq + silenced taser + ammo processor build is not only Vocally Challenged, but Antisocial, and hated by not just scientists but all gang-bangers. It can't hack for money or fun, nor buy anything from shopkeepers until it has a translator (but, not being malodorous, can once it does; likewise, it can become Upper-Crusty); but it's also capable of systematically knocking just about everybody on entire levels relatively inexpensively, relying on taser + chloroform for individuals and tranqs when necessary, and thus looting like crazy. And with Firearms 3, it can grab a shotgun or machine gun and be pretty handy with it when the time comes (and silence either after a quick trip to the nearest loadout station to buy another silencer). The more chests and safes one loots, the more chances one has to get the translator and basically neutralize Vocally Challenged.

Me and 2 dudes all went zombie, took us a few tries, but we did manage to infect the whole of 5-1 and 5-2

I've actually beaten this green hulk-lookin' ass pos, and let me tell you: it's hard. Investment banker levels of hard. However, nothing is as random as it seems, and you just need to get the hang of it.

For Slums, Industrial and Park is pretty straight forward: kill everything, spawn in zombies and occasional companions, and make sure you pile up a good amount of money.

NOW.

For Downtown you need to be very very careful about anything and everything you do. Use back alleys whenever you can(an Upper-cruster in a back alley is a dead Upper-cruster). If you're in an open field AND in combat, try and get out or search the nearest cover. Peek ocasionally so they fire and waste bullets. For Uptwon you can pretty much apply the same strategy, but forever keep in mind that Supercops are not a joke and Cop Bots don't turn into zombies, so waste them whenever possible.

And as for a general strategy, you can go down 2 paths: stockpile Grenades and Land Mines(like, a LOT of them) or get a Bulletproof Vest and an Armor Spray and clone the ever living crap out of it. Do any of these 2 and congratulations, you're as good as won.

And before I forget, you can also go Invisible most of the time and people(including Shopkeepers and Sexy Bartenders) will not run away from you, so you can spend your money getting hamburgers and cocktails all day long. And before you waste your syringe, get a Translator.

I've been able to clear uptown with the zombie, with a combination of cloning giantizers and the Floats Like Butterfly (which is my favourite trait, by far) trait.

With both, you can quickly slice a path through the town, killing many and healing for 3 each time you hit anybody. Then when it runs out, you got a giant horde of zombies behind you that can help thin out the town further. Picking up and selling the loot left behind by your massacre helps fund more giantizers to keep the cycle of violence flowing.

But even as a giant, if enough supercops are shooting at you, you'll die in no time unless you got some serious mid-combat healing you can do. Don't lose your sense of self-preservation just because you're giant and smashing things up.

Well I finally got everything unlocked, all the items, traits, floors. And imagine my surprise to learn that what you pick at loadout you can buy each floor of the run.

I always saved every nugget. So now my zombie start can be a lot better.
