Successful Election Achieved!
So I've been whittling down the achievement list lately, and was scratching my head about the best way to actually win the election rather than just blow up the mayor with a rocket launcher. A little research, a little experimentation, and I'm happy to report a complete success. For those interested:

Disclaimer: I used the "Quick Game" and "No Disasters" mutators to streamline the process, but there's no reason it wouldn't work in an "honest" game.

Step 1: Complete the Comedian's Big Quest
This is just completing the game like normal, making sure to use the joke ability on enough people each level. Tackle it as you see fit.

Step 2: Using the Super Special Abilities mutator, play another run with the Comedian
This time around, joke at everybody you possibly can. It works 100% of the time, making most missions a piece of cake. Be very careful about walking into secure areas with followers, though. You may be everybody's best buddy, but your followers will still provoke a violent response. Which can be fun too, of course.
By making (nearly) everybody on the level Loyal or Aligned, your Electability will skyrocket!

Step 3: In the Mayor's Village, find the big building with a sign post in the first room. Talk to the clerk there to Run For Mayor. He'll tell you meet him in the park (where the podium is) to reveal the results. (If you accidentally make him a follower, just talk to him again and choose "dismiss", he'll get back on track). Now, bask in the raw power of unleashed democracy in action!

I hope anyone struggling with this achieve finds this helpful. It's still not a cakewalk by any means- the cop bots in Uptown will make sure of that, if nothing else. Have fun, and cause some chaos!

You could always use a hyptonizer 2 on him and ask for the hat!
Or you kill his guards and enslave him >:)

I almost succeed with this objective while playing a gorilla with friend-of-the-townfolks trait and a translator.

However, the realistical expression of democracy in this game was too real, and the racism in the real world won't allow just any mammal species to be elected as a mayor.

That exact the last moment of Huey, the friendly neighboring gorilla went in my run.
He was sadden by the failure in his attempt at election, alone, drunken, low HPs, and with no followers.

A group of scientists in the building next door were alarmed of his presence the moment he left the bar, and chased him down. His mangled corpse was found in the lower of the screen within the next minute.

I shall remember him well, may you be with peace.
You are my boy, Huey-!!! You are my boy-!! :steamfacepalm:

Congrats on your election :D

That achievement takes a lot of work, but it is worth it. Fits with the idea of being able to achieve objectives in multiple ways.

If you want to get elected without using mods, just achieve a positive electability on most floors (you can check that by controlling the stats with the R key) and then talk to the elections guy in the big building in the "mayor village" level. You don't even need the mayor's hat . If the floor electability is positive (even just +1), that floor will add +1 to the total. There is a little margin, so you don't have to go in the positive in every floor, only most.

You can improve people's attitude to you by doing several things, until the floor's electability becomes positive:

-Office drones will usually accept food / drinks and become friendly
-Free slaves either by killing/disabling slavemasters, or upper crusters (tranquilizer gun works wonders). You can also buy them and free them if you want, but only from slavemasters.
-Free people / gorillas from jail (zombies will hate you no matter what)
-Recruit band members / slum dwellers thieves and immediately dismiss them (can be a bit costly)
-If you have spare hypnotizers, you can use those as well
-You can pay 500$ to a gangster to "influence election" (I think just once per run, and I think it adds +2 total electability)
-Perks that make people aligned with you are excellent for this, like Friend of the Family or Random Reverence

Then you have to kill / disable those who will lower electability (hostile or annoyed) because they will give you negative score. Some will be hostile by default depending on your class, or because of riots / bounty / zombie invasions. Basically just dispose of those who wouldn't vote for you :P
