kill everything in sight and rely on periphrial zombies to do the heavy lifting

The zombie has a secret perk that allows you to buy from ALL zombie vendors. Not only shopkeepers, bartenders, and drug dealers, but also thieves. Custom characters with the zombiism trait can also do this if they have a translator.

I think you can figure out what to do with a zombie equipped with window cutters, wall bypassers, cardboard boxes, and lockpicks, and possibly loads of food and some cool drugs.

You may also get a chance to upgrade all zombies with the Inhuman Strength and the Quick and Deadly traits, which are improvements of the Zombie Phlegm special ability.

thanks man, i was wondering about traits as well, cause building up a horde of zombies is great but the supercop mg/shotgun knockback keeps them at bay if not outright murders a bunch of zombies. sometimes the cops lose but when they're backed up with police bot flamethrowers they rarely lose =p

Zombie was actually the first class I used to finish the game. When it got to the point of super cops, mobsters and flamethrowers you have to be sure to pick your fights carefully. Remember
1. Your zombies are expendable, if you get into a fight with supercops take cover or get out.
2. AI is dumb, get around corners or into narrow openings, make the ranged characters come to you.
3. Build up your army, make sure you kill AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE, before fighting tough crowds. Having all those friendly zombies walking around helps
4. Upgrade your health stealing trait asap. This makes you heal 6 health per melee hit instead of 3, it can really add up and make shooting phlem less costly
5. Choose your level up traits wisely at the HQ, you don't want anything to do with guns or with store prices, you do want all melee oriented traits and ESPECIALLY the melee weapon durability trait, it makes it so you never run out of hard hitting melee weapons.

You can always use mutators to your advantage and turn off guns. It might feel cheap to you or it might not. Who cares, as long as you're having fun playing?
I can't get past downtown. All the mafia and cops are murdering all the zombies and then aggroing on me. =/

Don't bother trying to actually fight the supercops, and don't try to protect your own zombies. Your goal should be to use zombies to overwhelm the entire level, bit by bit. Hunt down less well-armed people where you can and avoid everyone else. It also pays to invest in invisiblity syringes, but those are helpful for every class.

Don't forget Invinciblity syringes as we.

Play solo! I tried Zombie with Coop and my zombie horde (that wasn't DNA linked) would attack my team...
