Hey dev, have you played Space Station 13?
The complexity with environmental interaction...and how much interrelates as subsystems to a huge malleable one...really reminds me of that! You should research their virology system and also atmospheric one - producing a virus for effects could be cool as drugs, same for manipulating atmsopheric conditions for effects from sleep to flammable environments! :3 PS: Are there SWAT in this as an escalation from cops? Can they cordon areas?

A bunch of people have mentioned it to me, but I've never actually tried it out...

Hmm, although it's quite the investment considering the depth, which is comparable to Dwarf Fortress, I'd highly suggest researching the mechanics at least - the kind of flexibility these mechanics afford is really complemented with procedural generation. Although S13 focuses on more a teamwork session of Mafia with interacting roles, it was always a perfect base for a roguelike sandbox!

Mind you, there are many custom server mods and hundreds of developers across each, but I think it'd be positively inspirational, whether their hacking, engineering, atmospherics or AI: all the systems cross over beautifuly and may be manipulated for use in each. I'm sure you have the vision and creativity to adapt any inspiration for a unique end! ^_^

Anyway, just bought your game now after trying the demo, very happy to support such dynamic fun!

I had a friend introduce me to SS 13 like 2 years ago. Describing it now, it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the level of VR chat, but has objective based roleplaying on the level of Dwarf Fortress.

Ie, my friend got arrested, tried to kill himself to escape, was put in a stray jacket for insanity, carried over to a therapist, and when he was finally released, I was outside as the entire station was infected with a coughing blood disease. The power went out as the maintenence crew were all killed, and we were fighting for our lives to get the escape pods.

And all I did was try an apprenticeship as a pharmacist. I got to watch a bartender shoot a clown to death after my first delivery.

Oh god, the virology system in SS13 is pretty damn complex, but now that y'all mention it, SoR has pretty similiar premise of do whaterver as SS13.

I remember when a friend and myself had played a geneticist and head doctor, so as part of our ploy, as we healed people, we injected them with DNA that made them look and speak like my friend. No one could really tell who was who anymore. We eventually started a revolt that resulted in someone bombing our medical bay's genetic machines, but at that point, everyone was already converted.
Some one told me space station 13 is like mafia? so im guessing you wait for everyone to join, and then the round ends when the bad guys are caught?
How long does a game last in space station 13? 30 minutes for throne of lies / town of salem is as long as I can play one of these games :P

It's pretty open as a sandbox on a station with everyone performing their role, 30 minutes to an hour.

The government roles play out like Mafia. There's always one role trying to sabotauge the station or it's people, and it's up to security and leaders to stop that from happening.

Other than that, you have pretty much every civil duty you can imagine. Miners to get coal to power generators, botanists that grow and sell food, robotocists that turn people into robots, doctors to heal people when the inevitable robot uprising happens. Normal stuff.
