Fortnight Discussion: Big Quests
By now, you've probably seen that box at the lower-left corner of the character select screen that's said "coming soon" since Alpha 1.

Big Quests are intended to be game-long quests that are unique to each character class. For example:
- The Cop’s Big Quest might be to arrest 50 “Guilty” people throughout the course of the game.
- A Thief might need to steal a hidden, quest-specific trinket from each floor.

I’d like to hear your ideas for Big Quests that could be given to existing character classes.

maybe you could have, i don't know, some random quest that has you kill 50-500 [insert class here]. probably something like the soldier

also plz add the resistance leader as a playable character. he could have a special "recruit" trait that allows him to recruit people (and make them his/her slave). But all recruits come at a price! you have to do some type of mission similar to like the side quest mission people tell you to. you probably want it to make it 1-2 use per level though, or things could get wild. Or you can just not do that and enslave the entire population.

SECRET CHARACTERS????

i know maybe this is not the right Discussion for this idea. but i like easter eggs like the lamp and uddu doll and mood ring (those item have no use what so ever). i can't keep them(cause i always run out of inventary)and they are not an achivement. they are taken out for now i am not sure. haven't see them for a while. my point is the killing robot is too easy to kill now(however i like when it does drop something---free rocket laucher ) if you wanna learn how to kill the robot easily. leave a comment i might reply. thank you devolper great work!!! big support!!

oh and also if you can make ailed doctors or other character( that you save from a base and sending them to the exit)to heal you, or use their abilities, that would be awesome.

RACKING UP is being suggested a lot (Kill 50 Scientists as Gorilla, etc) that should be a pre-requisite to be noticed by the other members of your class/people, therefore *starting* the actual quest where they send you after characters and to extra CLASS EXCLUSIVE MAPS which are basically side quests/detours from neutralizing the Mayor.
I love playing as the GORILLA, and every time I play my ongoing rivalry with the scientists deepen. I think it would be dope to fight some sort of 'Mega Scientist' with a super evil name, put him in a mech suit, and he wants to make gorillas slaves (or something) > Dr. Eggman deal, and defeating him frees my gorilla brethren (they could be watching in cages and any you manage to help out aid you in the fight?).
With the VAMPIRE class, I have to destroy and VAMPIORE HUNTER'S GUILD, and as a Vampire Hunter and VAMPIRE NEST. Also PvP Big Quests= If I play as Vampire and my friend is a Vampire Hunter, at the end we have to choose who's rlly our friend bla bla, making the final batttles even more dope. An ex w the world you've already created: if I'm a Blahd and my friend is a Crepe our bosses make us choose at the end (obvi a 'kingpin' wouldn't ask, we'd just have to decide if we listen but whatever).
REWARDS for beating the big quest should be like a 'Mega Class,' which have much crazier buffs but more unpredictable fallbacks, for ex: Gorilla starts with three of the gorillas you freed at the end, but all the gorillas that fought him (Dr. Clayton, like Tarzan??) were contracted with a disease that makes them allergic to bananas at the end of the fight-> coming into contact w bananas at all causes bleeding/ heavy damage. And the Mega Banker's body is damaged, so taking drugs causes bleeding, but now he's a fiend so they have even greateer boosts. Blahd/Crepe unlocks Kingpin. Something like that would be awesome, treating 'Mega Classes' as a Hard Mode or a Play Mode+.
For the CANNIBAL I'd rlly love for the character's arc to be an introspective one. Like at a certain point he looks into a well, "why do I eat people" Nega Cannibal "Mommy never loved you, she never payed you any attention until you ate her feet!!" and you have to fight the Nega Cannibal at the end, and you have to decide whether you want to play as Nega or Normal Cannibal in the ultimate one v one (Fight Club style). Winning as Nega unlocks the 'Sensitive Cannibal' class, Normal unlocks 'Mega Cannibal.' We could choose our class variant under the edit looks tab, like a new section besides hair/facial/shirt, etc.
Basically, more classes and class variants and options for class creation should be high up on your list, it's really what makes every playthrough unique. And as you make more classes, put them in the gameworld too!! I'd also lilke to put the Player Created Classes into the world, w lots of little options I can pick out like I do when I create a class.

I've been wondering, if the Big Quests end up being "game-long" then regular items wouldn't work as a reward for completing them; what would be the player's incetive to complete a Big Quest? Szechuan sauce for those chicken nuggets?

Now, I don't know how or why, but my mental image of the Gorilla's big quest involved a final raid on a gigantic lab, filled with security to sneak or fight past (maybe with different tiers of security - instead of the whole building going after you if you're spotted, maybe separate security for the east wing, west wing, research area, etc.), and a mission to stop a machine that'll destroy all gorillas in the world. If you win, you reverse the machine and everyone else gets turned into a gorilla.

I think big quests should be a way to buff up your character more. There could be a bronze, silver, and gold (and platinum?) medals for big quests. For instance, the bronze goal for the cop is to arrest 15 guilty people, the silver might be arrest 15 people AND complete a level without killing anyone, and the gold might bump up the arrests to 30 people or something. Once you complete that, you would get to pick a class specific perk at the end of the level. For the cop, it could make arresting faster and silent, give attacks a chance to make someone dizzy, or to be able to recruit fellow cops as followers. The perks would be tiered, so a bronze perk would be worse than a gold perk. As for it tying into the story, you would get a major advantage in the fight/level if you got a gold medal for your big quest. Here are some ideas.

Cop: Convicts the mayor of corruption, and a bunch of supercops breach the door to help out with the fight.
Investment Banker: Goes on some sort of drug binge, and gets max stats, and a random buff that gets replaced with another buff when it runs out.
Hacker: Hacks into the main server and gains the ability to instantly connect to any device in the building using the laptop.
Gorilla: Pretty much turns into King Kong (becomes giant), and has to chase the mayor down and squish him.
Scientist: Completes his "molecular fabricator", a cloning device that gives all of his guns and one use items a cooldown instead of a ammo count/ item amount.
Soldier: Buys a loot crate (so you can say "I told you so" to the people who thought you were joking about that) and gains an overclocked ammo processer that gives him infinite ammo after exclaiming, "WHOA! A legendary!" (maybe add a 1/100 chance for it to be a rock, which he throws at the mayor and one-shots him.)

If you complete certain Big Quests over the course of a Run, I think you should be able to unlock something similar to extra excessories for charcters depending on what you find. Like, if you complete the Werewolf mission you would be able to unlock a very OP (Double meaning; OverPowered, and OVER PRICED) Werewolf ability. BADASS.

Also, maybe extra abilities Main Characters don't use (alluding to more characters? i mean. PLZ)
And traits that increase risk reward, and new items?

Only a suggestion. I know it's only a possibility, but I Imagine there's a way you can put your own fun spin on this. Thank you, Matt, for such a good game!
I like these ideas for rewards.

How about Big Quest where you get some random objectives following a main idea ?
Like for Wrestler : "Brute Quest : [destroy 20 tables in Slums] [kill X cannibals with bare hands] [survive two train cart hits/ destroy/ stop a cart]

What if the Cop's Big Quest involved a promotion to Supercop at some point? Perhaps for impressive performance and with an unique cutscene. Don't know what the requirements for it could be tho...
