Necromancers, though often associated with raising undead, can be much more than that. Making the necromancer unique could revolve around a way to use death to power themselves. They may be the first true 'magic' class, if that's a direction the developer wants to go. Necromancers may gather 'ammunition' for their spells by absorbing the souls of dead NPCs. Souls would be spent to cast spells revolving around the necromancer's domain; maybe a poison cloud sort of spell, maybe summoning insects/rodents to act as distractions or debuff enemies. Perhaps a spell to step out of the mortal plane, providing brief ability to phase through walls.
If balanced by requiring death to cast, a small variety of spells could suit a necromancer quite well. They might also gain temporary stat boosts for storing souls, and lose those boosts for spending them, offering depth to the choices of when/what spells to use. Necromancer may start off weak, gain strength through kills, then spend that on unique powers, to create a playstyle that differs from others.
Yes
Maybe make souls a kind of necromancer-only pickup that every dead enemy will drop. Make them a kind of throwable like a rock that will home in on it's target. If used on a corpse, it will be raised at full health and degrade over time. If used on a walking corpse, will restore it's health by a lot. When used on a living NPC, will lightly damage and poison them.
Yeah, witchdoctor was my other pick, I reckon it'd be pretty dope seeing a crazy voodoo masked freak running around raising bodies.

Nice. The more suggestions on this class the more Madguy will notice and the odds of it getting added may increase
