Finally saw all the endings [Spoilers]
Finished my 13th run just now, and unless there's a very secret 14th ending I'm unaware of, that's all of 'em.

Thought I'd rank them by how "good" they seemed to me (good as in positive tone/outcome for Ophelia's story; all of them are well-written IMO).

1. Sacrifice PRESTIGE for FAMILY - Goes what seems like quite a ways into the future. Even if Ophelia in narration says this outcome is only "something like" happiness, it sure sounds about as close as you can get without being the dreaded "joy" ending. There's a sad segment where Polonius dies, but it's hard to feel all that negatively about him actually reaching the point of dying from what reads more or less like "old age sickness", and almost everything else here is very positive.
2. Sacrifice INNOCENCE for POWER - Far, far more positive than I would ever have expected. Little to no attention is given to the rather unsavory aspects of the path this ending requires, aside from a couple lines about how Ophelia's personal life basically ceases to exist. Ophelia makes for a wildly successful politician in this ending (and Claudius is barely even mentioned), and this is the only ending with an unmistakably positive outcome for Denmark as a nation.
3. EXEUNT ALL - Also not what I expected given the very, very dark path required. I did this one second but wish I'd done it last, because it provides excellent closure to the game as a whole.
4. Sacrifice INDEPENDENCE for PEACE - Apart from a few wistful thoughts, it turns out that the independence of her former nation really doesn't matter all that much to Ophelia in the grand scheme of things. A pretty good outcome for everyone who survives it.
5. Sacrifice PERMANENCE for PASSION - Not only does Ophelia get her guaranteed "several years of real happiness", but life is basically OK for her afterwards (unlike for her unfortunate paramour). Hard to find much fault with the outcome here.
6. Sacrifice CHOICE for REVENGE - The only ending where Ophelia "defeats" Quince, and she has to sacrifice any possibility of a future for it, as well as endure countless deaths and tortures. That said, I highly enjoyed this one--it has a nice "heroic sacrifice" feel to it that none of the others really do.
7. Sacrifice RESPONSIBILITY for INDULGENCE - Has a very "ate too much ice cream and then threw up" feel to it, as somewhat expected. Ophelia's obviously not all that comfortable with this one, but it ends on a hopeful note.
8. Sacrifice EVERYONE for MYSELF - Surprisingly positive given how easy it is to get, but Ophelia does seem like quite a coward when she flees the country due to Brit's summons, and this one definitely feels appropriately lonely, even if the final outcome isn't all that bad compared to some others.
9. Sacrifice PEACE for SURVIVAL - Given that it's by far the hardest ending to find, it's surprisingly negative, especially compared to the "sacrifice independence" ending. A very "war sucks" tone here, and the "survival" element feels like a hollow victory by comparison.
10. Sacrifice FAMILY for LEGACY - Well, this is a really good ending for *Prince Hamlet*, but not so much for Ophelia. The narration here is focused almost entirely on the wedding, and it's clear Ophelia has serious reservations about this one, and little positive to say about this outcome. It's interesting how much worse this one feels than the one where she marries Claudius, given that she's Queen in both.
11. Sacrifice PREDICTABILITY for ADVENTURE - I was actually worried this one would be too positive, and was pleasantly surprised when it was ultimately pretty bad. It goes about how one might expect "become a pirate" to go in a work that isn't going out of its way to glorify piracy; it's all fun and games until you don't win a fight.
12. Sacrifice STRUGGLE for RELIEF - About as positive as it possibly could be given that it consists of essentially accepting canon Hamlet's outcome, enough to put it squarely above the madness ending, but not enough to get it any higher.
13. Sacrifice REALITY for JOY - A hauntingly bad outcome that really drives home the Ghost's warning about how unwise this choice is. There is no Golden End, but there is definitely a Bad End, and it's this one.

Loved the game, wish there were more "groundhog day loop" games out there like this.

Thanks for this! I did the Exeunt All ending not knowing it was going to count as a final ending and delete my save file--I thought I would be able to try for at least one of the others. I wish I'd at least unlocked the other endings before doing it though, still had 3 to go. That said, glad to hear you think that ending was comparably satisfying, it definitely makes sense why it would count as a true ending and not something you can go back from. Makes me feel like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ though.

My estimation of these endings is much the same. Though truth be told Exeunt All is the one I got first and therefore my personal favorite even if it is incredibly dark. I was wondering though without heavy spoilers how does one get the Choice for Revenge ending? That is the only one I have yet to acquire.

Could you tell me (with spoilers) what the Exeunt all ending is? I think this may have something to do with Peter Quince, and might be the ending I've been trying to seek out from the changing the play option . Thanks. I've been busy lately and don't think I have the time to play out all endings.

What's the ending if you choose to burn the book?

Is the CHOICE for REVENGE ending in the full released version? I can't figure out how to get it or find a guide. Any help would be much appreciated!

The CHOICE for REVENGE option appears during the epilogue. After a particular interaction (which I think triggers on its own) going back to your room and clicking the book will show you both the book and an additional object in the bottom-right corner of your screen. If you put your mouse over it, it says it's the CHOICE for REVENGE ending. When I clicked it, I got an error message and the game shut down. I'm just here to make sure vengefully breaking the game wasn't what was supposed to happen.

I've done it correctly, there's a full proper ending after it. Give it another shot, and if you can't lemme know and I can try to get it recorded at very least.

It worked as soon as I started up the game again. Thank you for the offer!

What's EXEUNT ALL? That choice isn't in my book.

Edit: Ohhh. Quince gives you an Exeunt command after a while...

please, I still don't get it. What do you have to do to get the Exeunt command?

let's start from the beginning because i've played the game a lot (only experienced 2 endings, one from book of fate and the other from burning the book, which is supposed to be the "12th" secret choice of endings.)

"Exeunt all" is apparently the 13th ending that I don't know about yet. So, when can I wait around and get the Exeunt all command?

1. right after getting the book of fates?
2. or do I, after getting the book of fates, have to do the whole "ghost, quince is evil" thing and then "kill" quince and then let the fake epilogue play out, then he lives again and THEN wait around there?

anyone, please

Yes, you have to tell the ghost quince is evil and then have the fake ending to get the chance to unlock EXEUNT ALL. I don't remember exactly what you have to do to get the command for it after that, I just stood around quince and let time go by fast and eventually he starts talking to you about it.

okay well I just went and replayed the game, waited around, nothing.

i got bored so I figured "guess I'll unlock all of the fates on the book again" , and while doing that and when I was 3 pages away, Quince suddenly appeared. Maybe I finally waited long enough, or maybe there exists a certain amount of pages you have to unlock or leads to solve first before Quince offers the command. Oh well. I'm done. Farewell, Elsinore.

Can Ophelia stay with Hamlet only in the Family for Legacy scenario? I wanted to save them all and have them together, but he is always shipped to England. Also, Ophelia keeps getting killed when the invasion starts in the F for L scenario. I wonder if I am doing something wrong. I tried both befriending Britt and putting her in prison... maybe it has to do with the advice Hamlet gets after he kills Claudiu?

You have to be inside the Grand Hall all of Sunday basically, the invasion will kill you if you're outside Elsinore when it happens. F for L is the Hamlet ending, and you have to sacrifice Laertes and Polonius by getting Horatio or Polonius to give Hamlet advice. I think Brit can survive it? But you can't let her or Gertrude talk to Hamlet. Kill Claudius before the play happens if you want to ensure Hamlet stays in Elsinore.

It's a shame there's no ending where you sacrifice Hamlet/The Royal Family and have Laertes and Brit on the throne. It seems like every ending for them is unhappy except for P for F for Laertes. Brit doesn't even get that, she always either ends up dead or married to Hamlet who she hates.
kjb Jan 20, 2020 @ 12:16pm
I for P also gets Brit and Laertes together (but at what cost?) if you review it with the Book after the Epilogue.
