Single Player Totems

Is there a way to use the totems in single player ?
If not, one of two options would be nice to have. (Or more if someone has another idea.)

1) If the player has collected 4 totems before he dies, he gets transported to the revival platform and is revived. (Easiest)
or
2)The player is given a much longer death cycle (IF he has already collected 4 totems).
Then he can try to crawl to the revival site. (Less gamey but more programming).

I think if they had placed the 4 totems on their stands already and could actually crawl around while their health was at 10 and falling, if they could climb on top of the platform to revive themselves before their counter would reach 0, it would revive them once they died.
