Camera rotation
I don’t know how, but I was able to move the camera in army creation mode.

What shows us that it is not difficult for developers to do this, seriously landfall what prevents you from making it possible to rotate the camera in army creation mode?

Already a lot of people have asked for it.

Actually, seeing as we were introduced the simulation maps, having the feature now would be very useful for placement.

This seems to be a glitch actually, I've had my camera go into a "dutch angle" as the movie people call the camera being tilted at an angle after some battles. I couldn't stop it though, and my controls glitched during one (W makes me go sideways instead of forward, etc). The control glitch doesn't seem to happen every time, but it's probably just a glitch.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

That is true, some of the maps are painful.

Would be nice if ancient 1 would become playable some day...

i really love tribal sandbox but without a free camera, I can’t deploy the units as I want.

The camera limits break ancient one. Cant play it at all.

Honestly, even though it is so old, this thread is still surprisingly relevant.

Issue is still here though. Ancient 1 is near unplayable
Like the devs have said, This causes too many bugs. thae free cam placement itself is a bug, and If you have played around with it, you would see what I mean. (YES, I know this is months old)

Cant we at the very least tilt the current placement camera then? With an overhead view all maps should be playable.

Like, if free camera deployment isn't possible, then next best thing is making the current camera more moveable or faster.

For me, it seems like the only thing that matters in the unit placement editor is that units are placed on a grid, and the position is the only thing that matters. Would it be hard to then make a script so that you can have a free camera, unconstrained by anything, and just use the mouse position on the grid to determine unit placement? Doesn't seem that hard to make as several other games and not the least game engines have that, e.g. when placing objects in Unity you have a free camera, obviously. So I don't see why it should be hard to implement a free camera unit placement mode scripting-wise. Maybe someone can make a mod for it?

That argument/suggestion could’ve possibly been beneficial almost 4 years ago when this discussion was made, but now the game is finished. There won’t be anything new added to the game in the current state, and not just because there’s no more plans and they’ve been working since 2016, but it’s really just not possible anymore. I’ve been spreading around the reason a lot, so I’ll just summarize it with the game is extremely slow and laggy to work with and making changes can lead to more/worse bugs and they’ve got multiple ports to work with now. So yes, it’s certainly up for mods to implement.

Indeed. Try to check the date of any discussions before you post on them. As a rule of thumb, if a discussion is more than six pages back in time, you shouldn't post on it. Overall, just be careful.
