Why has this game taken so long to release?
Back in late 2015 i was so hyped for this game (as were 10s of thousands of other people), Alphas were awesome, and it was a great concept. Then as time went by the release date kept getting pushed back further and further, and now it's to the point where it looks like yall are just going to scrap the game. I understand you guys are indie devs, but dang, it's not often you have to wait years for a game to come out after 2 or 3 alphas were released. i'm not complaining or putting you guys down....i'm just baffled. I still play the Alphas once in a while just because i enjoy them so much. I don't follow this company on any social media so i may not be up to date on anything.

Games take longer than 2-3 years to create, especially if they're indie devs.

Hello :-) Please visit Landfall's Twitter and YouTube-page. There you will find current videos and screenshots. The developers have many ideas and would like to publish a playable version. Like most good artists and craftsmen, they do not want to publish their work until they are satisfied with it. A little more patience :-)

Hello!

We never had a set release date for the game, we had estimates but never a clear date. There are several factors to why it's taking longer than we expected, I'll try to go through them here:

The first estimation was for the game to be finished within a year, this would have meant just fixing bugs and adding more content to the open alpha that was created. We quickly scrapped this however as the alpha got millions of players and a very passionate community. It was important to us that the people supporting the game would get something bigger and better than a polished alpha, so we broke the first year estimate.

The second estimation was to finish what we were working on in 2018, we pushed ourselves hard to finish the game but kept running into problems. The game was still using more or less the same physics system as the first alpha, a system that was impossible to work in. Any time we would make a small change to one unit, another one would break.

It wasn't until after we took some time off after the TABG crunch this summer that we realized that the entire system had to be remade for us to finish the game. We remade it in a week in August and now we're putting the game back together and changing the units into the new system. We're in a really good place to either finish the game or go Early access as soon as we can get the core of the game ready. We hope this will be soon but no longer make estimates, since like I've laid out here we've been wrong in the past :)

I hope this explains stuff a bit more! Our estimates aside though, most games take around 2-3 years to finish :)

Is there a possible chance that the early access could be free for about a month for all the truly dedicated fans watching the game 24/7 and then release it for money (10 to 15 USD)? I am a young boy who doesnt have money in my steam account who wouldnt be able to buy it and i get sad when i have to watch others and not play. :(

About 2 and a half years, actually. But it feels so much longer, unfortunately. =/
