Multiplayer Functionality
I think that TABS could benefit greatly from multiplayer functionality. I’m not sure if this is already being looked at for a future feature, but I was inspired to bring forth ideas from Sjin and Tom from the Yogscast.
They play a game called ‘HORSE’, where they start off with 1000 points to spend, and they play Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who puts their army down first (the loser). For every round they play, they add 1000 points to the points they can spend, and they keep their first army they put down, adding onto it. This could continue until the first person to 5 victories wins, or something similar.
This could be added into the game as a possible way to have LAN games, or even online by having one person host the game, and the other person connects.
Going one step further, you could also include rules where if someone wins twice in a row, the other person is able to clear their army, and spend all their points all over again.
I’m unsure if this or a similar feature is already being looked into, but after watching Sjin and Tom play this fun multiplayer experience with TABS, I felt the idea should be brought forward as a proper game mode.
What does everyone else think? Do you all think this would be a good idea to bring something like this as an in-game feature, or perhaps it’s something you all think it’s best kept for two people on the one computer? Perhaps you want there to be changes to what I’ve said above to improve fairness or increase the fun factor. I would love to hear all your thoughts on this.

Great idea, but it hasn't been looked into sadly, but ice giant approval

Idea for multiplayer: start with 100 points, then get an extra 200 every round. You can only place one unit, and automatically makes the user possess it. Basically 1v1

Thanks. Just curious, why do you always make a huge gap between your comments?

It is being looked into. If they think they can find a way to make it work, they're going to add it to roadmap.

Again with this. Online would be the exact same as splitscreen, except far less clunky to use and painful to look at, with more functionality. Have you ever played TABG or Stick Fight? They both have online (Stick Fight's online is incredibly buggy, but they wouldn't let that happen for TABS at all) and have zero microtransactions. You're absolutely insane.

I think 1v1 multiplayer sounds good, but you shouldn’t have to play HORSE with it, it should just be a two player sandbox where you can make your own rules.

So glad to see many people on board with a multiplayer functionality! I would totally be down for something like this in the game, and it would just add on to the endless possibilities the game already seems to be ready to provide in the future.
Obviously the multiplayer functionality in online play would be a difficult implementation for a game that’s main feature is rag dolls, but if it is possible, I believe it’s definitely worth looking into.
I like the 1v1 idea. Would be quite interesting to be going from trying to be the first one to hit, and in the late-game picking the strategic units.
Split-screen functionality would be pretty much what it already is right now I think, but it could be awesome if one side of the screen goes dark, or even a ‘fog of war’ whilst you are putting down your own units, and then when you’re done, it swaps sides. Obviously in a split-screen scenario you would have to trust that your friend covers their eyes “No peeking ;)”.

It would be great if Landfall added a split-screen future that let two people on the same device to possess a unit to play as, maybe even play as their very own hero unit. :p

Did not know they were looking into it, also I agree with your response to clambchowder.

For the past few weeks any post about multiplayer has him responding with just "No." or something along the lines.

He actually thinks that Landfall would turn into (drum roll...)

EA if it were to get a multiplayer.

In the long term, yes.
When Landfall is bigger in the future (maybe 5-10 years) it WILL happen.

On what assumption? Landfall is a great dev team, and nothing suggests they will get greedy.
