War is lame spoilers for about halfway through the game
Okay, I have to get this off my chest. I've bought this game twice now because it was cheaper to buy the whole franchise (I wanted all the DLC for Darksiders 2 on the sale, and the cheapest way was to get everything, this game included).

I could never get into the first game, never past the prologue part. But I feel like Darksiders 2 looks pretty good, and Death looks like Raziel so I want to give it a go. I just have this thing in my head that I can't play it until I play the first. So I've really given this first one a shot, and while it is much better than I thought it would be, War is really dumb. I mean I just got the gun from the Black Hammer guy, and War pulls it on him? Then pulls the trigger?? What a douche. I hate war. I hope Death fails in his mission, ha.

Really the writing is pretty silly and over the top. I just have to get through the game. I think I'll probably like the second one much better. This game has a cool premise, the writing just needs to be tamed down a bit. I hope the second one has matured some. I feel like everything War does is to seem "cool" or "antihero" or whatever.

If you are wanting to collect the achivements then read the thread: READ BEFORE PLAYING THE GAME (achievement problems).

The short version is: close & restart Steam after playing Darksiders. Silly I know, but I have some missed achievments and since knowing and doing this all achievements have been working for me.

War is the youngest of the horsemen. It's obvious he dives into situations without thinking, considering he dived into the end war without his other horsemen, and also attempted to defy the council. You could compare War to a child, considering he did have to have a babysitter or rather a "Watcher" just to keep him in check.

I've not played the second game yet, but that's my impressions of War so far.

By the way, there's a comic that comes with the game ( http://www.slideshare.net/juanmiguelmontesmartin/darksiders-comic )

I'm a long way into the game, just got the 4th heart, but I don't see what the Watcher actually does. Occasionally he's popped up after a battle saying 'over here', but I don't feel like I'm being bady-sat at all. Maybe I've just kept right to the plot and don't do anything wrong ? Only very rarely has he said 'Don't make me call you again' when I've been chasing down a chest. But even then I've not come straight away and the Watcher still never did anything to punish me. Am I missing something ?

To be honest, the Watcher isn't significant in the story until right at the very end. I suppose I used a bad metaphor to describe him.

No, I don't think you did. I'm sure that right before War was sent back, the Council guy said the Watcher's job was to keep War in line. It's jsut that up til now it seems like a redundant statement from the Council guy. Not to worry, at least I know I've not missed something in the game. :happy_creep:

no thats actually exactly what he is, thats what the council assigns him to be. if they made him an actual baby-sitter throughout the whole game it would get very annoying very fast.

no other game ending had me on my toes as much as this one. that was, until i finished the second one. after you finish the second one, you realize one thing. it was all worth it. all the hours, all the walking all the sword scythe wrath swinging buidness. the second game is a lot more theatrical than the first one. truly amazing soundtrack on the second game, and boss figts are a lot more fun. that being said, the first one was also impressive and well worth the time investment. you will find some parts of the world were they are not as alive as youd like them to be, and in very rare instances, i found myself backtracking when i didnt have to because i was lost, but the reward of finishing the game was well worth it.

i was very sad to know the company shut down and sold the rights. i do not trust anyone new with this project, just like i dont trust battlefront 3: battlefield with lazors.

War is one of the most epic characters in games. He's so badass and looks so cool. I don't know why is he lame to you. For me first game is a lot better in every aspect, except gameplay.

if you thought darksiders 1 was lame. Wait till the puzzles of darksiders 2 drowns you to sleep
