Literally not what he asked...
IF you're willing to grind, which isn't casual at all due to the time commitment, you can do anything you want including tanks. You won't be able to use ships outside of clans or regiments because those are the only ones active enough and organized enough to actually make and use them.
If you communicate with voice or text you should have no issue. Some people will also notice your low rank and offer you help/guidance
No, wait for the new war on Alpha (112), which is delayed for technical reasons. The first three days of a new "big" war can provide some of the best gameplay, as the two sides start out very evenly matched and short of supplies, making logistics and medics critical.
At a technical level, if there is an Anvil test server up and two main battles (Alpha and Charlie) then as many players flock to the new game's test, the quality of the gameplay on Alpha inevitably suffers. So check where the population is (Anvil, Alpha, Beta or Charlie) before jumping in with your friend - without enough players, the maps are big and very, very empty which is not much fun.
If your feeling adventurous, both of you could also operate vehicles/tanks together, though it should be noted that depending on the server there are usually quees to harvest the resources needed for these types of vehicles (there are often quees in Alpha, but not so much in Charlie). Word of advice- its good practice to have the more experienced player as the driver of the vehicle, since they have the larger role in determining its survival.
Lesson 1
Step 1 go to your nearest seaport/storage facility
Step 2 click the vehicles button
Step 3 click transport truck (Colonials call it an R1 Hauler Wardens call it a Dunne Transport) they are identical in function. They are cheap to make so don't feel bad using it.
Step 4 take the transport truck to the nearest refinery (this is a hammer icon on your map) or look for nearby fuel cans.
Step 5 grab a fuel from the public fuel and fill your transport truck
Step 6 Look at your map and find a "scrap mine" that is at or near 5000 scrap (it stops working if it hits 5000 so taking some hurts no one it just keeps the mine from being idle)
Step 7 go to the mine in your truck and press E then click the scrap until your truck is full of scrap
Step 8 bring the scrap back to the refinery and make Basic materials AKA Bmats by pressing E from within your truck and right clicking the scrap icon next to basic materials and click "insert all"
Step 9. either wait for them to be converted or go get another load of scrap while you wait. **NOTE* bmats are made 2 scrap each 1 truck is 1500 scrap or 750 bmats
Step 10 take the atleast 1050 bmats you have now made and go to a "mass production factory" use your 1050 bmats to create 5 crates of trucks. **WARNING** Before pressing the "play" button set the que from private to public so some one else with a flatbed can collect them from the factory later and put them into where you got your truck.
The mass production factory gives you a discount for making more than 1 crate of things
the items are cheaper for each crate for example we will use 7.62 ammo this costs 80 bmats you want to make them 9 crates at a time this is why.
First crate is 10% off so only 72 bmats
Second crate is 20% off so only 64 bmats
Third crate is 30% off so only 56 bmats
Fourth Crate is 40% off so only 48 bmats
5th crate is 50% off so only 40 bmats
The next 4 crates are also 50% off so only 40 bmats each so if you make 9 crates instead of costing 720 bmats it only costs 440 bmats
1 crate of trucks (3 trucks per crate) is 300 bmats but because of the discount when you make 5 crates at a time instead of 1500 its only 1050 this is a huge savings.
The more you save the more THINGS you get for the time you spend it isn't just a resource savings its a TIME savings.
You have now taken 1 truck and used it to make 15 trucks you have become 15x more useful to the war effort.
Repeat this but instead of trucks (that will take a day to make) do it again for something else. you can have 1 que per TYPE of thing by tab so that means you can have 1 que of ammo, 1 que of infantry heavy weapons(like grenades), 1 que of vehicle ammo, 1 que of maintenance supplies (these keep bases alive), and one you of Speacialised solder gear (these are outfits you wear to get special abilities like medic outfits let you carry more medical supplies and such), and 1 que of "special things"
The main thing i would suggest for each category are from left to right on each tab.
1. 7.62 ammo 9 crates 440 bmats (after discount)
2. If you have explosive materials "emats" (you make them with scrap at the refinery) make either mammon (normal) grenades or Antitank grenades, If you can't wait to make explosive materials make 20mm ammo (this isn't used much it is better to wait and make grenades).
Mammon x9 is 550 bmats and only 110 emats
Anti tank grenades x9 is 275 bmats but 550 emats
20mm x9 is just 550 bmats (but not as helpful)
3. 40mm Tank ammo (this is EXPENSIVE so its GREAT to make in bulk)
40mm x9 is a whopping 880 bmats and 1320 emats (you will need to make 2 trips in the truck)
4. Maintenance supplies (msupps) x9 1375
5. Any uniform will do but Engineer, Tanker, and Medic get used the most they are all the same cost.
Any uniform x9 550 bmats
6. Vehicles can only be made x5 There are 2 options either basic trucks for 1050 or Hauler trucks for 1260 bmats both are used allot use your best judgement
7 Special stuff You can make 5x of 3 things they vary in utility
7.1 Resource containers x5 (these are used with flatbeds to move 5k scrap or other basic resources) 525 bmats (very helpful for gathering LOTS of scrap from far away but you need a crane to take it on and off the flatbed when you get there)
7.2 Shipping containers (These are used with Flatbeds to move 60 CRATES of things from the mass production factory to the seaport or storage facility) or to move from one seaport or storage to another seaport or storage closer to the front line. x5 1050 bmats
7.3 Fuel Containers these hold 100 cans of FUEL they can be moved around with flatbeds and placed near were people drive so they can refuel without going to a refinery for diesel. They are important to keep people moving and to keep mines alive (who need fuel) 5x 1050 bmats.
Lesson 2
What do you do after you have everything in the mass production factory cooking for a day?
Well first of all when you make BMATS you can right click the BMATS and "retrieve as crates" and bring them to either a seaport or a storage facility for other people to use. The front line is full of bunkers and things that require bmats to both build and repair. If you don't have time to craft but want to still be helpful just dump your bmat CRATES into public storage and someone will get it up to the front. People can only retrieve your bmats in CRATE format you cannot store BMATS unless its in a crate. *WARNING* Once you take BMATS out of the refinery you can't put them into a crate!!!
But if you want to craft
You make important things that you CANT make in the mass production factory.
there are two kinds of things that a mass production factory can't make SUPPORT ITEMS and MEDICAL SUPPLIES
OF THE TWO THE MOST IMPORTANT IS MEDICAL SUPPLIES.
If you feel you have made enough medical supplies, or if there are a backlog of other people making them so the time to craft medical supplies becomes super long AND you just have extra bmats you want to spend. You can make either RADIOS or BINOCULARS these are very important and helpful most importantly they can be made with with basic materials (bmats).
HOWEVER the best use of Bmats is MEDICAL SUPPLIES you can only make these at a normal factory 4 crates at a time roughly every 5 to 15 minutes based on how many other people are trying to make them. You can only make one KIND of medical supply at a time
Soldier supplies AKA "Shirts" (because the icon is a shirt) are a medical supply that is consumed EVERY TIME ANYONE SPAWNS you make 10 per crate you make 4 crates at a time so you can make 40 respawns at a time this is a CRITICAL TASK
Alternatively you can make BLOOD PLASMA each crate makes 50 bags of blood plasma. It takes a medic 1 blood plasma to revive a player who has died (this is kinda like making 50 shirts but you need a medic as a middle man) i'd make 1 batch of these every 4 batches of shirts
Next is BANDAGES this stops frontline soldiers from bleeding to death and can keep them fighting so they don't die and eat a blood plasma or worse a shirt you make these in crates of 50 I tend to make 1 round of bandages after 2 rounds of blood plasma or 8 rounds of shirts
then there are 2 "MEDIC WEAPONS"
the "trauma kits" and the "first aid kit"
Trauma kits are used instead of a gun and hold Blood packs to revive people with I usually make one batch of these After making bandages
First aid Kits are Weapons medics equip instead of Grenades first aid kits hold bandages. Medics can use them not only to stop soldiers from bleeding but can also HEAL a soldier to full health with 1 bandage. I make a batch of these after the trauma kits.
So to be clear my order of operation is
1, Shirt
2. Shirt
3. Blood
4. Shirt
5.Shirt
6. Blood
7.Bandage
8. Trauma kit
9. First aid kit
10 Repeat
MOST towns have 2 factories so you can do this in both factories to double your output.
THAT BEING SAID
If you are fast you will find that during the 5 minute or so timer you can squeeze in about 2 runs to get more scrap to turn into bmats to make more things. You can usually make bmats at roughly the same rate as you consume bmats to make items in 2 factories at the same time.
If you have someone ahead of you in line you will have a 10 minute or 15 minute que I would use this time to make another 2 to 5 runs of scrap while you wait
