Do I need to actively communicate?

Will this game require communication to be truly fun like in Squad or Hell let loose? Or can I just chill and play and still have a great time?

It's almost over anyway. Maybe a few more days if not a week at most.

But no communication is not mandatory but it's always good to have a mic so you don't have to stop every time you need to type something out.

You don't need to be chatty, so long as you're willing to play as a team and listen to those that know what they're talking about. And if you lack a mic and you want to communicate, you can type in local, so that only people close by can read it.

Gotta disagree here. Certainly there are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but there is not place virtual or real, without ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

You'll find both. Honestly i've had fun chatting with my fellow soldiers, but if you try to jack the ambulance i'm actively using, i will ♥♥♥♥♥ you out.

Besides that, you don't need it, but it can be fun. Mileage will vary

You can also use a local text chat which adds a text above your head, this works and many players has taught me things this way. You only really need a microphone if you want to get in to tank squads or do some fancy special operations with other players.

Many people don't talk in this game. Unless you are doing something that requires coordination with others then it's not needed to talk. And I do mean requires communication. Obviously everything is better with communication but the only things that really require communication are tank crews and any mortat etc. that requires a spotter and coordinated attacks at the front. But there is no need or pressure to be able to talk plus as others mentioned you can also use text chat. As long as you hear what others says it's fine.
