But if I had to choose I would prefer something in the front lines: infantery(I enjoy mortars, canons, etc) or being part of a vehicle crew.
In terms of good clans to look out for, here are some totally not biased, absolutely correct recommends. Most of these clans know and communicate with each other too.
12IPR is primarily a logistics group, a small but relatively chill and active batch of veterans and their buddies, slowly growing as they find new folks they like. They also have a tendency to arm and run artillery and tank operations as breaks from the logi. Also has a sense of humor, which is more than I can say for some. Rarely does dedicated infantry although one member might be the best sniper on the server. 12IPR is also the one I work with most frequently by virtue of being a member.
709th is a more general purpose clan from what I can tell. Larger than many, it seems to be one of the primary clans of Shard 2 wardens. I've run with them a few times and generally had positive impressions. I've seen them run tanks, logistics and infantry.
REQ is one of the newer, fastest growing and diverse groups. A couple wars back they ran out grabbing every player they could find to bulk up, so your mileage may vary with them. I've seen them run tanks, lots of infantry, some logistics and artillery. Also can be somewhat memey, so take that as you will.
ANZAC is an old, and some might argue inactive clan. But I've seen them running around in both shards and can personally attest to their effectiveness back in the day. They had a lot of success with naval and amphibious operations then. If you see em, go say hi.
There are plenty of other good ones too, these are just the ones that I can personally attest to working with on this shard that made some kind of positive impression. The principle for joining is the same for all of them; find them in game, give them an idea what you're like and then get an invite.
Hope that helps!
I have joined the 34th Detachment Blitz. I played with a group of people and one of them tossed me an invite. I think the regiment is new but they seem cool and their discord channel seems organized and they seem to be active running operations and such.
This is their discord channel: https://discord.gg/psB3kY3aaD
The Lancers Guild.

Yeah mostly American, with a few Aussies.
