why does push to talk work sometimes then others not then work again???

I've had very similar problems lately and the Steam discussions and reddit boards lead me to believe this is, largely, not a user issue...

Assuming you haven't pressed U/I/O (the mute chat keybinds):

Here are the tips I know to 'workaround' the issue:
1. Go into Settings > Audio > and press the "Reconnect" (or Refresh) option and wait a few seconds while looking at text chat for status
2. Go into Settings > Audio > and press the [reset to default] option then reconnect your comms
3. If the above two options failed then repeat step 2 (reset to default and reconnect) then restart the game.

If the above fixes aren't working and your chat is spotty at best, or only works for a few minutes before resetting, then you're with a bunch of us having the same issues (welcome to the party pal XD).
It's not you and there's only so much you can do. The best option at this point is to see the situation for what it is and fall back to do basic logi/transpo without comms (anything you don't need input for). And try to help the team given the circumstances. In my experience telling players via local chat that vc isn't working will get you enough 'give' to keep working effectively

I've been there... spamming the G or T button trying to talk to friendlies about how to help as they 'ignore' you and you're left in the void. Just do your best to help the war effort, whatever side you're on. This is a game glitch and you're not alone brother!

Yeah no its not a muted chat... just strange how often it happens
