I don't think smoke shells on mortars would be very useful. Smoke is only useful if it gets delivered exactly where you need it. The mortar's inaccuracy would make it next to useless.

Now, heavy mortars? That sounds interesting. Do you mean a HV variant of the mortar that does more damage? Or a completely different weapon, maybe slower firing but more damage? Could be an interesting gimmick. As it is, mortar vehicles are already incredibly useful (and extremely underused)

idk about your first take - mortars are actually really accurate. i play solo mortar and always hit target at second hit (if the wind is totally crazy its a bit more difficult of course). smoke shells would be useful to spot where are your shots land, idk just and idea of mine. Heavy mortar i imagine as more slow firing but a bit more accurate and with bigger splash. they even could decreace range to make it more balanced - what do u think?

Or it has a min range like arty. It should require a tripod. Both heavy wt. 60mm. Maybe shells are like 140mm that have to be carried, so it tequires a team to deploy. What are you doing when its windy to hit with mortar
idk, i just look at the wind first. depending on its power it can affect azimuth and distance from 5 to 20. then i take first shot, look where did it land and after that just calculate how much i need to add. the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ situation is when you cant understand where are your shots land - in those cases i usually cant be really accurate. when i play solo mortar i also use he rounds first because they leave a big chunk of smoke - it helps to undeerstand where shot landed. thats it pretty much, i guess else is practice - if u want we can play mortar together
