toxic die-hards who are entrenched in this game make it unenjoyable for those who are not clan affiliated.
steam db charts clearly show this game has a problem retaining new players.

if you do play, play as the clan favorite wardens, the game is been biased towards the wardens for years because of population balance issues that show fundamental design issues in the game.
it is like a basketball game between NBA players on one side and random pickups on the other. And what do they say makes the game balanced? the nba players will sometimes switch sides and all the random pickups will be on the other side and the situation remains the same.
and then you have the people who are team cheating and sabotaging the other side's resources and defenses with alternate accounts.
so...IMO....the community is just too aggravating to play with and enjoy the game in the long run.
The game has some fun mechanics. But it is not enough in the end. A shame because I was really enjoying the game with my friend as naive newcomers until we started noticing the blatant community flaws that were consistently getting in the way of enjoyment.
an now they are adding naval ships which To me just seems like this feature will just amplify these problems. Cool feature...but the experience will likely be ruined by the clans.
From my experience, when you get too frustrated by something in the game, take a break and come back later.
So, for the long term playing, yeah, it's worth it, I think. But be aware, there's alot of game mechanics to learn when you want to do something outside battles ... .
Community is toxic as well, just like "Squad".
This is a great concept, great game, great devs but unfortunately for most, it really depends on player base which this game have a lack of.
Also I wish there was a mod support so there could be Warhammer\Starwars mods or smth
Are you willing to join a clan and the associated discord server?
Are you willing to take up an unpaid job with diminishing emotional rewards?
This game has gotten more and more and more complex, time-consuming and hierarchical. Only get this game if you are either:
A. Willing to make a serious commitment
B. Accept that around 60% of the game's content is only accessible through clan-based play because it requires significant time and resource investment. No pay wall or microtransactions, just a gigantic mountain of grind
absolutely.
However.
Expect to put in a few hours into the game before having an understanding to what is going on. Don't let the complexity discourage you from playing. I promise you that you put the time to learn the game, you will have a fun *ss time.
Not true at all. You don't need to be in a large clan to play or have fun with the game. terrible take.
did farming for resources to help production, made some guns and ammo, did deliveries to the front lines with my produce and other stuff, did some infantry fighting, helped some guy out with their factory supplies when they asked for it in chat, we got public available tankette going and caused some havoc, i once even went alone and harassed an enemy town before they got me when i got too cocky.
of course there is a whole bunch of stuff you're not going to actively enjoy or play. though i did manage to do some artillery gunning with just one friend that helped out a push pretty well and got me some recommendations, usually doing all that takes some effort better shared with like several people across timezones, it wasn't really sustainable and i put in way more time than a single player probably should.
and i didn't even get to use a train or anything larger than upgraded tankettes. but that was still plenty cool.
And big clans have all the fun.
You can play the game, but have fun not interacting with 3 quarters of the stuff in it because big clan boys wont let you.
ive never driven a tank, shot artilery or anything besides basic farm. here take a gun and go fight.
Try to do the afformentioned? get reported and yelled at. Team killed.
