I don't know if it's needed as an APC can hardly shove more than 6 people on it already, and in my opinion, barges should be large enough for carrying more than 6 people, you can't do much with a such small landing part on your boat.
he is right, the maximum amount of people allowed in the back of the APC is 6, anymore and it will stop driving. similar to the halftrack.
APC isnt meant for land based ops it's a multi terrrain/amphibous vehicle though reality is that it is meant to be a landing craft?
Yes APC could fit more people in but the chance of survival was low (catapulted out the back)
You once could place a a HMG in the back (on land) and use it as a poor mans HT .
APC has a lot of potential just not sure people are using it to its full extent ?
