We aren't planning on supporting custom servers / games anytime soon. We are heading in the direction of this game being more like an MMO.
The coalition makes it easier for you to only communicate with your group as well as claim the barracks and truck for your coalition.
Coalitions are temporary and do not equal clans.
Will I see 500 players playing on the same map?
Or is it going to be an "MMO" like Battlefield and World of Tanks.
(Considering how pointless the term "MMO" has become, Battlefield should just start calling itself the biggest MMO out there.)
However, from what I understand it will grow bigger than the current 120 men per battle. Their current goal is I believe a few hundred men. I believe they also want to make the current maps bigger. Most likely by attaching the three current maps against each other (if you take a good look at the maps, you will notice they fit).
There will be more to it though and I think this devblog will show a lot of interesting things: http://www.foxholegame.com/single-post/2016/11/17/Devblog-9
MMO is fine, if you live in the US or Europe. Game is fairly unplayable from what I have experienced so far because there's no server regions and the ping is shocking. Are you going to be addressing that if you won't work towards community hosted servers?
