How does the new vehicle upgrades work?
So, title. I am not connected to any communities, so often alone or with a friend at best, so a lot of my fun is either Logi bringing heaven's best gift to the frontlines, Shirts, and the subject of the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUOPvtVZwo8

However, I do want to occasionally have fun with other stuff beyond logi that I could do alone. I am a pretty good shot with arty, even once doing something a tad risky but it disabled a entire frontline once with a arty gun, a truck, and a crane. I haven't played since the logi update, and have no inkling on the new logistics systems and how resources flow back and forth, but I still would like to know how to one man a few things. One of the subjects of curiosity is making use of the new vehicle upgrade systems for a specific subject.

As I read, you can take a low tier tank, and upgrade it in some kind of vehicle pit by amassing the requisite resources. But how does this work? Say I want to make use of a rocket truck, make ammo, stock it in a safe town, then bring up one of the new rocket trucks to rain hellfire. Where would I start with this upgrade? What materials should I expect to need? What do I need in terms of structures? Rockets I can guess the mats for, such as Sulfer and Bmats. Stocking those at a town is easy enough and similar to my arty gun escapade.

Before, you had tanks and their variants, for example:
Outlaw and Highwayman (and now the new Thornfall - Bonelaw)
Spatha and Falchion
Bardiche and Quadiche
Silverhand and Chieftain

These are the same Tank chasis, but different variants. With the previous tech systems, depending on the votes, it could turn out that a faction could build the Outlaw, but not the Highwaymay, or the other way around. But with the new tech system, you only vote for the tank chasis. So once you unlock Outlaw, you can build Outlaw and Highwayman and Thornfall. Or when you unlock the Spatha, you can build the Spatha and the Falchion, etc.

The downside to this, is that you can ONLY build the main tank, not their variants. So wardens can ONLY build the Outlaw, not the Highwayman or Thornfall. Colonials can ONLY build the Bardiche, not the Quadiche. Instead, you need to first build the Outlaw, and then take the Outlaw to an upgrade facility to upgrade it into a Highwayman or a Thornfall. You need to first build the Bardiche and take it to an upgrade facility to upgrade it into a Quadiche.

In addition, you can also "vet" tanks to T2 or T3. This gives it more health (or damage reduction, not sure) and a cool camouflage paint job.

In addition, you have different facilities for producing different groups of vehicles. For example, one vehicle production facility might be able to produce trucks, haulers and flatbeds, but that facility can't produce tanks. Or another vehicle facility can build Battle Tanks, but not harvesters, etc. (I'm not a logi man, so I don't know precisely which vehicles are grouped together, I'm just giving theoretical examples)

If you are a single, solo logi man and interested in building your own facility, I would start by building a single, small, simple facility specialized in one thing. For example: arty shells. Or Harvesters, etc. And then focus on that, learn how to best build and maintain the needed facilities, etc. You can still use regular factories and MPFs, though not for everything. (I heard they removed the harvester from MPFs and garage, not sure what else they removed)
