Is shooting a tank at an angle affect the chance of penetration?
Say I shoot a tanks at a 45 degree angle. Are the chances of penetrating increased?
Or less as at angle it is less likely to penetrate.
I know that shooting from the sides or back of an enemy helps but I'm just not sure if angling of shots affect bounces or not.

Realistically, the less angled is the tank the easier it is to penetrate. In game, i don't know, but seeing how tanks are a huge factor I bet they made a decent tank armor system

according the the dev, yes, angle matter. It's just that most vet players still used to the old linear armor system so nobody been bother to test, so they just write everything off as rng.

Yes, angle does affect penetration and by a fair bit. But once your armor is completely consumed the effect is basically nonexistent, and since armor lasts a very short time in an intense fight you'll probably barely notice a difference.

Hey, tanker here.

Armor penetration is a percentage chance based on the following factors.

Range (closer you are, the more likely to penetrate)
Hit location (where the tank is hit matters. Front is usually thickest, followed by side armor, with weak armor in the rear).
Angle of shot (you want to be perpendicular to your target. Shallow angles increase the odds of a bounce).
The gun used (both the cannon itself and the caliber matter. The Falchion and Spatha have the same class of gun, but the latter does more damage with less chance of penetration)

These factors are tallied up, and placed against the vehicle's armor value. This value varies form vehicle to vehicle, and decreases as the vehicle takes damage (note, bounced shots do not damage armor). This is shown by the tank getting more and more battered visually. Armor can eventually drop to a minimum value where penetration is all but guaranteed, save for some lighter calibers. Armor can be refurbished at vehicle factories.

Related subject, where a vehicle is hit can effect subsystems. Turrets, tracks, and engines can all be damaged if they are targeted. Broken turrets can't fire, busted tracks slow the vehicle, and a busted engine rapidly leaks fuel.

tldr, just shoot the bloke, the bullets ought to get through eventually.

Aim for the back at a straight angle for optimal penetration and damage.
