Battle Tanks
Will they ever be re added? Also why where they taken out in the the first place?

What do you mean battle tanks?

Plenty of tank variety exists for both factions; they just need to be unlocked/researched over the course of the war and then made.

I looked those up; yeah those look wicked and are almost dedicated land ships if they can be repaired inside.

Probably doesn't match the tank philosophy the devs have been pushing out since.

Gustav was a railway gun. The heaviest German WW2 tank was the "Maus" (mouse) It weighed 188 metric tonnes, compared to the 70 tonnes of the Tiger II

I can explain. Before .40, battle tanks were the undisputed best tank in the game and you would probably agree with that notion since they're very expensive. The issue with battle tanks however was just how overwhelmingly better they were in comparison to tanks in the past.

To establish how strong they were, you need to know the available tank types during 1st war arms race and before. Before arms race, there were only two tank types. This was the light tank which we have now to this day for both factions and the battle tank. Already you can see a pretty big power jump in between these two tanks. A light tank to a super heavy tank.

Once the introduction to asymmetry came in, Arms race 1st war, the dev man had added numerous vehicles to the game for both factions with some being faction specific. The biggest ones were the Kranesca, Silverhand (pre nerfs) and the flood Ascension, flood armor upg, and colonial Halberd.

Battle tanks in the past were near invincible to tanks not of its weight class. While the battle tanks of both factions only cost about 400 rmats, the equivalent of say some 3 light tanks, the tank itself could take on maybe 5 and still win. The battle tank shell, 75mm does the equivalent damage of the warden HV40 field gun today. This meant they 2 shot disabled light tanks in the past. Leaving the light tank at around 5-10% health. If the battle tank existed today, it would 2 shot kill most vehicles in game including light tanks and 3 shot kill all the mediums in the game besides Bardiche. While the battle tanks had a much higher damage outputting shell, normal light tanks needed to overwhelm a single battle tank and kill it using 10-14 shells because they still use normal 40mm shells.

If you think this is pretty overwhelming, we need to also establish health and armor of previous tanks.

The colonial normal battle tank and old normal flood had about 5-6k Health before arms race when it was still light tanks vs battle tanks. For comparison today, the colonial bardiche has 4k health, and the colonial smelter has 5k health Old light tanks only had about 2k health. Todays light tanks have about 1.7k health. The introduction of arms race and upgraded battle tank variants made this advantage significantly higher. Colonial Halberd of arms race had 8K Health meanwhile warden variants such as the armor upgraded variant had a small health increase of around 6.5k with significantly higher armor, Flood Ascension traded health in order to have 45m range and more armor. These battle tanks of arms race were undisputed kings and even high light tank numbers didnt guarantee success. it was to the point that the only tank able to beat a battle tank is the other factions battle tank.

As of now battle tanks are not really removed. They are simply on hold for now with a reintroduction much later in the future as each faction gets more vehicle types. The purpose of all these newly added tank types is to bridge the gap between light and heavy tanks and eventually, re add battle tanks. Today there exists counter vehicles that could actually prove a threat to battle tanks. Its plausible that in the next couple of major or minor updates this year that battle tanks can be reintroduced.

TLDR; Battle Tanks were overwhelmingly superior in comparison to every tank at the time. No one built any other tank besides battle tanks. With new vehicles bridging the gap between light tanks and battle tanks, a possible re implementation of battle tanks may come in the near future

Am sure they will be readded in the future, but I still don't see how they have fixed the original issue with them currently.
