No it despawns after like 5 minutes or something. I'm not sure about the exact time, but it doesn't take too long.

well that sucks, I wanted to keep my hard earned weapons so I was about to hide them in remote places and come back for them tomorrow.

Everything dropped despawns within minutes. Also there is no reason to hide anything. Who are you hiding stuff from? Everything is shared in this game, there isn't meant to be anything like personal inventory or items. Put stuff you don't need at a garrison or bunker at the frontline for people to use, instead of hiding it somewhere. But you can't hide stuff anyway since it will just despawn anyway.

what is despawning? what happens when an item is despawned? where does it go? are u sure that despawning even exists?

also I worked for more than an hour to get my sniper rifle, I don't want it to end up in enemy hands so easily. even if it's an ally, I love sniping in this game, I just cant let go of it

Anything you drop will despawn within minutes, it doesn't matter what you drop. There are also no private chests or anything like that. You should get rid of the idea of owning anything in this game. It's a team based game and everything is shared. If you don't need something anymore or you are logging out, put your stuff in a bunker or something so others can use it.

Like morph said, there is literally no reason to hide items for personal use. It's selfish and those are items that can be used for the war effort just sitting around because someone doesn't want to share.

well, you can hide a chest with the stuff inside. i dont like to hide stuff but there are things like mats that you can spend hours to get in order to build something and it isnt plan to it to those mats disappear because you decided to take a break to go eat something or sleep so i understand your point of view.

But don't forget that storage chests also decay. So you can't just put a chest somewhere in the woods and expect the chest to be there 2 or 3 days later. Not sure how long it takes to decay though. Plus anyone can just come and loot the chest. This really isn't a game where you keep stuff for yourself. You are fighting in a war together with other people.

If you don't plan on using something in the same session, then don't build it. You can keep your rmats, bmats and whatever in the factory as they will be kept there for 2 days in your personal queue before they go public.

But even if you spend the time doing something, you have to consider that you are essentially taking away resources from the team and hiding stuff from everyone else. Those resources could have been used to support the frontline. If you want sniper rifles, then just pick a frontline that has them or ask for it, because someone doing logi will probably send sniper rifles your way if you ask for it. No need to produce stuff yourself and hide it somewhere where it will eventually despawn and where nobody can make use of it.

if you use resources never belonged to faction you arent taking mats away. also, no share mats? and what clans do all the time? people should to be able to keep a part of what they do for their squad without being judged

So your faction as a whole is defending the front to keep safe the factory and the mines/fields you use to produce that pretty sniper rifle, but somehow only you get to use it? Considering how very niche the sniper rifle is and how much experience of the game as a whole you need to make good use of it, somehow I doubt this is a good use of the team's resources.

actually I did everything from the resource gathering to tech and to building it, I even spent time delivering crates of it to the front after I found out u cant hide it

well after finding out I cant hide it I made a squad of snipers and we provided flanking support to the region and it was the easiest capture ever.
I'm not selfish, I just have a sniper rifle fetish :D

Tho those damn collies have a better sniper rifle, its like the Dragunov since its semi auto not bolt action if im not mistaken, never got the privilege to use it but I think I saw a video of it and in it, it wasn't bolt action.
