In Foxhole you aren't a Nazi or bad guy by fighting for your fraction and to be proud of it. A Warden Hitler don't exist and Americans don't purged 2 Continents in the past or 2 cities with Atom-bombs after war in the foxhole Universe.
Dont look at stats, player numbers, balancing and other ♥♥♥♥. Its more like playing pokémon and dreaming about how it would be to be there :D
I don't know where people get this idea that Wardens look like Germans, they even wear blue uniforms for pete's sake, and it just sounds like the US-lookalike Colonials trying to justify themselves as fighting against the Germans like it's WW2 all over again.
I suppose it's all the meme propaganda the Wardens have (they have a lot of talented artists, or atleast, disposable income to commission Warden artworks) Colonials have some good artists too though.
To the answer the OP both sides are safe to play, don't be afraid to ask questions to fellow players, especially on the battlelines, vets know that it's better to answer a newbie's 1000 questions then to have them take stuff or do things unknowingly that might hamper the battle effort overall.
As for faction differences the Devs have somewhat recently started to differentiate the factions more by giving them different equipment, for example, the standard rifles of the Colonials and Wardens; The Colonial rifle is treated as a semi-automatic rifle (it even resembles an M1 carbine) with decent fire rate and bloom reduction at the cost of some accuracy over range, also dealing slightly less damage than the Warden rifle in comparison with on average taking 3 shots to kill a player compared to the Warden's 2 shots. The Warden rifle on the other hand is a bolt-action rifle, less fire rate but better accuracy over distance, and increased bloom when rapid fired.
Both rifles take the same ammunition and both come with a 12 round magazine (a little silly for a bolt-action but I suppose it's for balance)
Both factions have enough different toys in their armoury and garages that it is worth spending atleast one war on both sides to have a taste of what each has to offer.
colonial = easy mode
in warden the veterans play normally the game is complicated and it is obviously more fun due to this disadvantage
Colonials seem to be more for newbies

warden = for those who live it by playing
colonials = casuals
Playing Warden instantly makes you better at the game, your k/d will simply go up because the standard colonial battle tactic is infantry swarm. Frankly, with everything going for colonials, every war should be over in days but Wardens, through their sheer perseverance and skill are able to make wars last weeks. Collies need better tanks in order to make the game competitive, they also need to have spies and saboteurs in the Warden team because the weakest warden could take on ten of the strongest collies.
Can you maybe stop telling every new player to "Try colonial". Warden is literally underpopulated.

Nothing like fighting an enemy that is incapable of self reflection and can never admit defeat. Always use your enemies weakness against them, your post right here shows that the Warden ego is their own weakness. Thank you for supporting the Colonial War Effort by spreading constant lies, defeatism and hopelessness to fellow Wardens to weaken their war effort.

Average colonial shows off the standard reading comprehension of the colonial army. This is the sort of midwit you will become if you join the colonials people, watch out! Winning isn't worth losing a good few English grades for.
