The ranks system could use a little work, for example i have 14 hours on the game but have no rank, my mate who has 30mins on the game is LCPL. I understand that players commend you for doing good things and trust me i do good things, but im still ranked zero.

sit on a scrap pile with a hammer and farm for the logistics guys. easiest way to make commendations. best way to help the team too.

i got the same thing i was on a server for 2 hours and noone ever recommended me. even tho i tried to work together and help people out

I started getting commendationjs when i joined a logi team. We were mining scrap and making bmats. I commended the guy mining and he commended me back and then with another guy and some such. Easy way

if im mining/logi or building or even being healed i tend to use my 100+ comms to buff someone. but only if i actually see it, i dont bother comming people whining in chat for it. i rarely get comms even running as a combat medic or building def lmao. just how it goes.

team up/squad up and comms will flow

I randomly check the player list (F1) and if I see someone with high level, but with low rank, I commend them. High level means they've put time and effort into the game at least...

to be honest it seems that the players with the highest ranks are those who play with their mates. Its easy for them to just promote each other without actually contributing to the war effort.

It needs some work for sure. I got a good part of my rank from either scrapping and filling boxes, building on front line or being medic in firefights. Unfortunately the other 20-25% or so is just cheeky commends just for being in discord or squad. Which I don't agree with at all. Then you always have that one guy in discord that brags about what hes doing the entire time hes on, like no one else is doing same things, and begs for commends. I emailed devs about these issues. Have not heard back from them.

Being logistics/QM is a commendation farm. If you run off and HE foxholes by yourself, you may be doing a lot but your team visibility is low.
I play with my mates but I like to have a little integrity and not hand out commends. I have 70-something saved up. I like to commend people who actually deserve it :3

It's all about letting the team know you are actually doing something.

I've mined tons of scrap and put it in chests, but no one ever commends you if you don't say in chat there is scrap ready to be picked up. And even then you still have to talk to the guy who picks it up, otherwise they just go straight to the chests and empty them in seconds wihout saying anything.

The best way I found is to hide the chests a bit, and force people to actually take a moment to see my name.

I'ts a stupid way, and it shouldnt be like this, but it's the best way I find.

But too be really honest, if I see people with high ranks and low levels I don't respect them anyway. Level > Ranks

K heres a scenario I just ran into. Rank related. So enemy broke thru SE of a town and supply was low. I ran to front with 4 others and started killing advancing enemy. I got winged and backed out and started bandaging. A clan tag guy (I know name but not gonna call out) that had 5 other clan guys, that were between Sgt-WO2, on his squad walks up and blasts me. I yelled WTF! No response and he just runs off back into town. I whispered him and no response. I get on discord and no one is on channel. So this clan is just a subterfuge clan, probably on TS or vent, doing whatever they can do to disrupt. So basically they just dumpin their commends to each other to dishearten people to try to kick them or reprimand because they are ranked and they have a group. Ya this sh*t need to change or this game is DOA.

I was reprimanded not to long ago becuase i ran someone over due to the walking on the road. I understand if i shoot you purposly but when its clearly an accident dont reprimaned someone.

Rank system is pure crap atm. Only useful rank is getting to Corporal, past than that its pure cosmetics below the name of the player and do not reflect effective skill of a player, given most players past WO1 have done commend trading to get his rank, be it with random people or (more often) with squaddies. Even lvl doesnt reflect skill, as unskilled builders can spam tons of useless stuff (and then stuff dangerous for the team: ie barbed wire blocking sight and shots of AI bunkers/foxholes, wall spamming around uneeded areas, ect)

We do need a rework on the rank system, along with a rework of the squad system. Devs stated they are working on "tools to improve communication and logistics" so lets hope they'll include rank reworking in that planned feature. And of course, when done, global rank wipe should be expected... :)

live with it, the social recognition doesn't go with what you are doing, but how you sell it, nothing new.
If you want true commend, heal people, bring shirts in large number,etc. or join a squad/clan

The whole point of this thread is the hope that the devs will fix it. Saying "live with it" when a game is in early access isnt helpful to either the community or the devs. We need to address certain issues so they can be fixed, not ignore them.

not everyone is gonna make field marshall.

as i have said before,inject yourself into the war effort,type and voice chat are essential,get involved and make yourself known as a guy who gets things done.

i have just made Officer Cadet and level 13 doing just that.

i like the system,because when you see an officer,you can be fairly certain the guy in question has earned his stripes and is a experienced player to work with or take orders from.

the last thing i want is officer rank types who do absolutely nothing in the way of organising or directing the war effort.

its an army simulator in essense and not everyone can cut it in the army.
