Cargo ships is how landings get their supply since barge supplying is just a pain since you have to go between maps, you're slow af, gotta make the stuff, load it, maybe load a truck on the barge, etc. So it's just a long process in the place of where you need a quick process...
I HAVE seen successful landing that got supplies through barges, but that was in Farranac where the barges didnt have to go far (Just down to Victa to supply us up in at a northern beach) and we had a cargo ship AND a facility that produced Bmats for us... So it takes a lot more then just a few barges to supply something well enough for it to succeed
Ultimately, I think it's probably not worth the effort. At best, I think I broke even with just driving a truck via roads and doing twice as many trips. The barge is just super slow compared with an on-road truck. It also can be really finicky about where it will and won't put down the ramp, which eats up extra time and endangers the supplies. You also are incredibly vulnerable as a barge with no radar cover or defenses if some enemy ship crosses paths with you. Then there is the risk of leaving the supplies just sitting along the beach while you deliver the first truckload. At the end of the day, I think you're just too many eggs in a very slow basket trying to do barge logi.
