I have to use my laptop for awhile. That why I didnt know its built-in-mic was dead. I dont really use it.
I was unable to hear any voices and my mic wasn't working, too.
I could solve the issue by enabling app access to the microphone (Windows 10).
1.) Right click on windows 10 startmenu icon
2.) Click on settings
3.) Click on privacy
4.) On the left side, click on the microphone entry
5.) Then click on the "Change"-button below "Microphone access for this device is off" and choose "on".
6.) Switch "Allow apps to access your microphone" to on.
Also it's maybe an option to check the Steam VOIP Settings.
1.) Open "Friends & Chat"
2.) Click on the gear icon the the top right corner.
3.) Then click on voice.
4.) Choose your input and output device and start the microphone test.
After this i was able to hear voices from other players and my mic was working too.
Without the first part, and a restart of Steam, my mic wasn't working in the "Friends & Chat", too.
On my desktop I fixed that with homegroup, which the now removed form windows, so use have to use One ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Drive (Got put it in th cloud).

If your user account is a domain account you may loose access to it if you follow the next steps.
So follow them only if you are 100% sure that the user account you are using is your own local account.
1.) Open the file explorer ( "windows key" + "e" )
2.) Right click on "This PC" and click on "Manage".
3.) Beside your computername, click on "Change settings"
4.) In the new windows click on "Change" ( Tab: Computername )
5.) Your computer should be still a member of the Domain, so choose "Workgroup" and enter an name.
6.) Click on "OK" and reboot the computer.
To do this you will need to have administration permissions.
If your computer was already removed from the domain and is already a member of a workgroup and the settings are still managed by the organization then try following.
( The gpupdate command tries to query new/updated group policy objects from the domain server of the organization. The command is also able to remove old group policy objects. )
1.) Right click on the Startmenu icon
2.) Click on "Windows PowerShell(Administrator)"
3.) Type in the blue Powershell window following command: "gpupdate /force" (without the " characters) and confirm with a press of the enter key. This may take a short moment to complete, after this try to reboot the computer.
And thank you, for all this work you've been doing.
