Is there anyway to break into houses or perform autopsies without reputation loss?
I can kill bandits and loot them no problem, but autopsies don't seem to be allowed. I've also tried to break into houses in the middle of the night but it always seems to be a reputation loss. No one seems to be around when this happens.

Do I just have to deal with reputation loss in these areas and trade in other neighborhoods? I swear that there were ways to get around this. Is the sneak key (C) only used to hide from being attacked then?

there was, but it was gamebreaking.
in first game you could become crazy rich by selling some fools internal organs, now people mad if you do it.
you can still do it but yeah, trade of is reputation penalty.
p.s. pretty sure i found some bodies you can harverst and drawing blood from a corpse is allowed.
Without giving anything away - the protagonist has a stalker. Not a chicken that randomly spots you. A stalker that always watching you and know what are you doing. Thats a part of the plot, there is no evading that.
So either deal with the reputation failures or avoid it, both approaches have pros and cons.

Also a lot of people (esp Day 1) tell you WHY the autopsies are not allowed. Its local religion, basically, you may not break down the body without something bad happening.

You can use sneak to avoid conflict and perform stealth attacks.

Cutting bodies is taboo in the town's traditions so you'll encounter reputation loss when carrying out autopsies. Reputation, like hunger is a status and a resource that needs to be managed.

Yeah, me too. I found a couple on 2nd day already lying dead on the street and I'd imagine they are bandits.

Haruspex is special in that he is the only one who is allowed to cut bodies because he "knows the lines". There was a reason why Artemiy was allowed to cut out organs in broad daylight in the first game, and he was the only one who could do it.

The bodies in the hospital I believe can be autopsied without reputation loss.

yeah, the hospital is free territory, you can do autopsies on people there (the dead ones). also not trying to give stuff away but there are several quests that give you access to houses which you can loot from without a reputation loss.

drawing blood from a corpse on the street is a-ok, no penalty, and I recommend doing so with 4 out of 5 of any bandits killed as it's a good way to have a healthy stock of herbs. maybe 2 out of 5 would be enough since I always end up with far more than needed.

If you have too much blood I guess you could always sell it, or use it in more potions.
StrayDogFreedom Jul 4, 2021 @ 9:14pm
yeah, that's a good point. I always forget about selling it. It really does make sense then to always collect it after a kill.

Can't you at least use it to brew painkillers?

Although I guess morphine is already everywhere in this town.

Once a medical ward is established in the Theater, there are a few bodies found there every day where you can perform an autopsy without a reputation loss.

As for looting, aside from some specific houses at certain story moments, you can only loot without reputation hits in infected or looted districts, and both of them have their own dangers.
