Crash on startup fix
There is a known issue with game install getting currupted after the last patch.
In any case, if the game does not launch for you:
Try disabling your antivirus (if you have one) and then verifing integrity of game files https://monosnap.com/file/MRLWc9FV1fcDLO5jSyp6i8q3L5qYcg

How do you run the game as admin? I tried the game file integrity suggestion, but it didn't work. The game will show the opening logos, then either crash or lock me into an inescapable black screen where I have to force shutdown on my computer.

go into steam downloads folder and find the pathologic exe then right click and press run as admin

Running as admin didn't work. At best, it'll take me to the loading screen after the opening logos before crashing or locking into the black screen of doom. I even went to the admin options to make sure the system did everything. Thank you for telling me how, though.

I've tried all of these suggestions, it loads a tiny bit then I get a Unity error and it crashes

Same as what Astrowuffs said. It worked fine for me before the big May 30 patch.

Is there anything else that we can do to fix the game that might fix the game. I was super into this and I want to be able to play it some more.

Dunno if you're still watching this thread Astrowuffs, but I managed to fix it by going into the control panel for graphics settings. Using the Classic app preference, I added Pathologic 2's .exe files in the folder to the list of preferences. Then under options, I chose "high performance."

I'll give it a shot
avast premier keeps deleting it. I just wanted to traffick organs :(
Alright, I figured out how to fix it for those using Avast.
go to: protection/shields > virus chest > locate pathologic.exe, make sure it's the same install folder, click on it and then "restore and add exception". That should do it.

Just downloaded it and it won't launch. Running as admin, verified files multiple times and no anti virus. Only game on Steam that gives me this issue.

I know this thread is dead, but I'm currently trying to get the game up and going on linux, and I'm having similar issues. I'm getting the same tragedian error box and then no launch. I've verified files, don't have antivirus, re-installed latest version system with updated drivers, installed/updated proton and wine, and tried a couple other things to no avail. I'll be sure to post if I figure out what I'm missing. I'm sure it's probably something silly and obvious, knowing myself. Good luck, ya'll.

Same issues here. Fresh install, confirmed OK files, and crashes with a unity error handler popup. This is an issue since may, is this really still not fixed??!?

have you tried checking on your antivirus' vault (the one containing infected files) or the logs specifying which files were deleted. Maybe you can create an exception, then fix the cache and boot it up again.
