How do you get the Vault Password? [mild spoilers]

Behind Nylock's Merchant building you can find the entrance to the vaults. While there, the mutants tell you that you require a password in order to enter the final room, but they say it in a lisp so you can't get it properly. At another point in the story, you can meet the Master Treasurer who tells you that the vault password is known only to the creatures, so how are you supposed to extract it from them? The only time I've had the chance to cast a spell (perhaps TEl or RAP) is when the mutant champion appears and the spells are only specific to fighting that creature.

Can someone tell me how to obtain the password, preferably with as little spoilers as possible?

I haven't been to the vault, but if I'm not mistaken you can get a certain person to translate for you (heard this on the TouchArcade page for Sorcery 4, which is usually fairly reliable).

I'm not sure you CAN get the password proper from the critters - I've had them tell me the password, but it's illegible due to the way they pronounce it, and I found my spells just as limited as you.

Apparently there's a way to find out the password from Ranii the pirate (west side of the city, past the warehouses) after she boasts about her plan to steal the Crown, but I haven't tried.

What worked for me - going along the "left wall" in the Vault maze, and fighting the male werewolf, thus learning about the weakness of the armor. (You can also learn about the armor from Vic at Nylock's shop, provided you've warned his forces about the Goblin threat in Sorcery 2 - not sure if there's a third way). When you encounter the female werewolf. attack the weakness - the woman will run off and get herself killed. RES her, and eventually say that her children had escaped unharmed (another option might work, but it would take far too long to rewind if it doesn't, so I never tried). She'll give you the password.

Presumably, you can kill her in Werewolf shape, then cut her out of the armor, RES her, follow her to the trap and RES her again?

Here's how to get the vault password:

You have to meet Ranii the thief a second time (after dying and coming back with ZED). The second time you meet her, you'll have the option to call her out by name, and it will take her off guard. This leads to a thread where you talk about joining up, and eventually you've stalled enough thjat the goblins she stole from come out and start attacking. At that moment, you can read her mind and she will reveal the password to the vaults.

I know it is an old topic, but it was my 1st result when I looked for info about the vault password, and I found the last comment a bit misleading.

We can get about 50 golds in the vault, as well as a jewel of gold. But, if we get too greedy we can lose an arm. Exiting the vault also teleports us to Inner Mampang.
