FAQ and Questions Thread
Do you need help finding your way through the woolen world, can't find that specific fabric or are you wondering about something else in Woven?

Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions. Didn’t find the answer you were looking for? Sure it isn’t ‘42’? Feel free to join our discord[discord.gg] and ask us there directly, or ask us here.

Which platforms does Woven launch on?
-Steam (Windows, MacOS and Linux), Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Switch.
Linux was confirmed a few weeks later than the other platforms.

Which languages does Woven support?
-The game’s story is told by a narrator that rhymes, and he speaks only English.
We included subtitles and a translation of the game’s interface in English, Spanish, Dutch, French and German.

When will it launch?
--The Release date is set to the 15th of November for all platforms. Different platforms might come available at different times in different countries, we will post a schedule here once we get around to making sense of all the time zones.

How many hours of gameplay does Woven offer?
-Well, it's a laid back exploration and collectible game. So playtime varies. a regular playthrough takes about 10-15 hours. If you are the collector type, there is easily 20 hours of content for you. If you want to try to speed run it, our studio record is held by 3D artist Jos, and timed at an hour and forty-seven minutes, good luck.
Update: No one has yet beaten this record, but hey, the game isn't out yet too.

For what price will Woven launch?
-The price has not been announced yet, but will be announced together with the release date.

I saw the age rating, is Woven a kids game?
-No. Woven is kid friendly (and our PEGI age ratings reflect this) but the game offers a sense of humour and story complexity that appeals to an older audience just the same.

The trailer looks cool, but what is Woven’s gameplay about?
-Woven has a relaxing playstyle in which you explore a woollen environment for clues and collectibles. By spotting and figuring out how to reach coloured patches, you unlock features you can use to customize your character with.
The game also offers challenges that require you to change your characters shape, so you have the right ability needed, and puzzles that you will need to solve by thinking outside of the box. Stuffy’s abilities often trigger a reaction in the creatures of the world, and it is up to you to time it right, or find a way to provoke the correct response.

Does Woven have a Discord channel?
-Why yes it does: https://discord.gg/FSxvQMh feel free to join our community, ask us stuff, and be the first to see new screenshots, clips and hear news. The team is mostly active round CEST, but the community come from all corners of the world.

What engine was Woven built in, it looks like the Unreal Engine.
-Take a number, guess again! It was built using the Unity engine.

How big is your development team?
-A short question that deserves a long answer. Woven has a core team of three people. But the game was developed over the course of 3 years, and the team size has varied from as little as a single developer working on it to having 6 people working on it. Over the years a lot of different people pitched in with contributions big or small, and we are proud to credit them all in the end credits. The game boasts the creativity of 19 people counting the programmers, designers, directors, voice actor, composer, 2D and 3D artists.

I saw this project in its Kickstarter days, will I still recognize Woven when I play it?
-Yes you will. Of course the engine has been updated, and so have the visuals, story and gameplay. The kickstarter page by now holds lots of outdated information. But it still is that laid-back exploration game with a focus on story, collectibles and lots of cute creatures.
On kickstarter we wrote blogs detailing changes on gameplay[url] and [url]story.

Digital or Retail release?
-Woven will have a digital release. As far as ambitious planning went, that’s were we drew the line.

Does Woven have extra content for the Xbox One X and Playstation4 Pro?
-This is the steampage, why are you asking us this?
Not extra content, but the game does have a higher resolution than on the base versions of the consoles.

Will save games be interchangeable between platforms?
-No, at the moment Woven does not support this.

What will the team do after this, Woven 2?
-Who knows, we might return to Stuffy’s woollen world some day. But for now we have something in mind that is quite different. But in all Alterego Games does, it will focus on story and ambiance.

I want to help the team, how do I do this?
- A major way to help is by telling people about us. We’re a small company, so following our social media channels and retweeting/sharing/liking our content really helps it become more visible for other people.

Edited top post with actual Frequently Asked Questions!

Hi, bit confused.

The store page now has Linux system requirements but the FAQ says it's not confirmed and the launch announcement only mentions Windows/Mac?
Alterego Games  [developer] Sep 30, 2019 @ 1:09am
We understand the confusion.
The Linux system requirements have allowed us test a Linux build via our steam setup here in the studio.

In an interview with LinuxGameConsortium.com you can read more about it.
TLDR; We are working hard on a linux build, but can't confirm yet. Definite news about Linux will follow soon, bear with us!

Hi, i hope i'm not off topic if i ask you here, i consider this game very cute (graphically talking) and i would be interested on giving it a try but, i would to know if you'll be able to add also Italian subtitles, that would help a lot, thanks in advance.
Alterego Games  [developer] Nov 20, 2019 @ 12:17am
Hi @Ron, thank you for your kind words, unfortunately we currently have no plans to add Italian subtitles.

Oh, well, that's a pity :steamsad:
Thanks for the reply and, in case in the future you'll consider adding more languages, please, take Italian in consideration, thanks again.

Will do!

I'm stuck in an episode with fireflies and a frog. What should I do to skip a frog?
Alterego Games  [developer] Nov 27, 2019 @ 12:25am
You have to use Glitch's light to make the mushrooms glow. Carefull though; his big light makes ALL mushrooms glow, the fireflies won't know where to go.

Use glitch's flashlight to guide the fireflies.

Goodluck!

Not a frequently asked question and I'm sure a ton of people will laugh at me for this, but I'm gonna ask it anyway: I saw the videos on the Steam home page and saw something I wasn't a fan of... so uh, how bad is this game going to be for someone with extreme arachnophobia? I love elephants and the idea of a game where you're a stuffed elephant makes me want to buy it immediately, but I also don't want to have constant panic attacks while playing. :(
Cebalan Dec 16, 2019 @ 1:56am
Well, being both a psychologist and the narrative designer of the game, I should be able to answer this one.....
It does depends on how extreme the arachnophobia is.

But there is a mechanical spider enemy in the game, it appears numerous times and is animated like a spider.
If you had trouble looking at what you saw in the trailer(s), the game might A) be difficult at times. and B) might also be an opportunity to exercise, as besides movement, it is a non-realistic representation. Up to you!

Good luck.

It's... fairly extreme. It sometimes depends on exactly how realistic it looks and sometimes doesn't matter how unrealistic, I'll still be a sobbing heap if I'm unprepared. In other games I try to immediately look away and do my best to ignore its existence and just mash buttons. If it's predictable, I make my SO take care of those parts, lol.

I didn't notice it TOO much in the trailer but I probably immediately turned away from the screen. The one on the logo bothered me, and I saw the other one in one of the screenshots and think it probably will. :(

Thank you for answering!

I need someone to somehow create a mod so I can play as this adorable elephant without hyperventilating.

What about cross-play support?
Roverboef Aug 31, 2020 @ 1:09am
You mean playing on one platform, like Xbox, and then switching to playing on PC? With the same progression and character?
