Crashing on Startup on PC
If the game crashes on startup and does not open an error log text file, you can try the following:

Make sure XNA Redistributable is installed
Steam should automatically install it, but you can also get it officially from here[www.microsoft.com].

Try the OpenGL Branch in Steam
Do this by Right Clicking the game in Steam -> Properties-> Betas -> Select "opengl" from the dropdown.

If neither of these work and you do not get any error, feel free to post a topic and we can try to sort it out.

Hey guys! I am having a similar problem when I start the game I get an error log. I have tried restarting my computer and it didn't help. I tried starting the game through Steam, through Olympus by clicking Everest and by clicking Celeste. I don't want to reset the integrity of the game files because I have a LOT of progress on Strawberry Jam and a bunch of other modded maps, and I don't want to lose all of that. I tried going into Saves->settings.celeste and changing the Full Screen status to False, but that didn't help either. I don't know if I should reinstall the game because I don't want to risk 300 hours of progress. If it helps, this is the error log I get:

Thanks, this worked immediately. I tried every other "method" people suggested, but most of those didn't work. The ones that did are only work-arounds (like switching to OpenGL) but none solve the actual issue. Reinstalling the XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0 fix it. I suspected it might be the issue since all betas except the XNA version would run, but when I looked at the files everything seem to be there... oops, coulda fixed it sooner.

Hey OpenGL helped me a lot, but is there a way to not have it next to the name of celeste? (I mean, in my Steam library, it appears like this "Celeste[opengl]" Is there a way to remove opengl?
